Подстановка выражения для тока и деления на RC дает дифференциальное уравнение, в котором импульсной характеристикой является выход импульсного сигнала.
Вводится постоянная времени, а дифференциальное уравнение умножается на интегрирующий коэффициент с обеих сторон. Он упрощается с помощью свойства дискретизации импульсной функции.
Обе части уравнения дополнительно упрощаются и интегрируются в пределах системы, в результате чего получается уравнение, включающее ступенчатую функцию и фиктивную интегрированную переменную τ. Это уравнение решается для расчета импульсной характеристики RC-схемы.
На графике показан мгновенный скачок напряжения конденсатора в момент, равный нулю, что является противоречием из-за нереализуемой природы чистого входного импульса.

RC circuit impulse response describes how the capacitor voltage changes after a brief input signal. In this system, the voltage source is the input, and the capacitor voltage is the output. The state of the circuit before and after excitation is defined separately so the response can be tracked clearly.

Kirchhoff’s law is used to write the input signal equation for the RC circuit. The capacitor current and voltage provide the output relation. After substituting the current expression and dividing by RC, the result is a differential equation. For an impulse input, the output is the impulse response.

The time constant, τ = RC, is then introduced. The differential equation is multiplied by the integrating factor e t / RC . Using the sampling property of the impulse function simplifies the expression. The solution is found by integrating within the system limits and using a step function with a dummy integration variable τ.

Solving the equation gives the impulse response of the RC circuit. The graph shows an instant jump in capacitor voltage at t = 0. This jump highlights the theoretical nature of a pure impulse, since a true input impulse cannot be made in practice. Understanding impulse response is important for predicting linear system behavior. If the response to an impulse is known, the response to any arbitrary input can be found through convolution. That idea is fundamental in signal processing and control system design, where impulse response helps reveal system dynamics.
