When a man pulls or pushes a box, it moves in a horizontal direction. The pull or push exerted on the box that results in its motion is known as force. It is a vector quantity expressed in newton.
Forces acting on bodies can be categorized as external and internal forces. When the force applied externally on a body creates an effect, it is termed an external force, while the reaction forces existing inside the body are known as internal forces.
The principle of transmissibility states that if the point of application of a force on a body changes but remains in the same line of action, the resultant force on the body does not change.
Consider two forces acting on a rigid body. According to the principle of transmissibility, the body remains unchanged if the forces acting on the body are in the same line of action, even while acting at different points.
Since these forces are equal and opposite, their sum equals zero, and the resultant force on the body remains unchanged.

In mechanics, external forces and internal forces are two types of forces that act on a rigid body under consideration, causing external and internal effects. The external effects are the reactive forces that the body exerts on its surroundings due to external forces like body weight, forces applied by people, and frictional forces. The internal effects are the internal forces and deformations that occur within the material of the body. Consider an example of a bracket subjected to an external force. The external effects of this force on the bracket are the reactive forces that the foundation and bolts exert on the bracket. The internal effects of the force on the bracket are the resulting internal stresses and deformations that occur within the material of the bracket. These internal forces and deformations are distributed throughout the bracket&#39;s material and depend on the material properties and geometries of the body.
The principle of transmissibility is a concept that explains the effects of moving the point of application of an applied force along the same line of action. It states that if a force is applied to a rigid body and the point of application of that force changes but remains in the same line of action, the resultant force acting on the body will remain unchanged. Consider two equal forces acting on a rigid body from different points. According to the principle of transmissibility, the forces acting on the body are in the same line of action, making them equivalent to a single force acting at a particular point. When the point of application of these forces is changed, or moves along the same line of action, the resultant force on the body remains the same, since it is the same force acting on the same line of action.

Force changes the motion, shape, or orientation of an object. A flowing stream of water can push on a turbine vane and make it move in the direction of the flow. In mechanics, force is treated as a vector quantity, which means it has both magnitude and direction. It is measured in newtons, or N, in the SI unit system.

Forces can act through direct contact or without contact. A push or pull is a contact force. Magnetic and gravitational forces are examples of non-contact interactions. For an object with a mass of 1 kg that accelerates at 1 m/s2, the applied force is 1 N.

When a rigid body is under load, mechanics separates the effects into external forces and internal forces. External forces produce the reactive forces that the body exerts on its surroundings. These can include body weight, forces applied by people, and frictional forces. Internal effects are the stresses and deformations that develop inside the material.

A bracket loaded by an external force shows both kinds of effects. The foundation and bolts react to the force on the bracket. At the same time, internal stresses and deformations spread through the bracket material. These internal forces depend on the material properties and the shape of the body.

The principle of transmissibility explains what happens when the point of application of a force moves along the same line of action. If the force stays on that line, the resultant force on a rigid body does not change. Two equal forces on a rigid body can therefore be treated as a single equivalent force when they act along the same line of action.
