Polymers

Polimer, kovalent bağlarla bir arada tutulan, monomer adı verilen küçük moleküllerden oluşan bir zincirdir. Organizmalar biyolojik polimerleri sentezleyebilir veya bilim adamları laboratuvarda polimerleri sentezleyebilir. Doğal polimerler, tüm canlı organizmalarda bulunan genetik materyal olan DNA ve yaşamın yapı taşları olan proteinler, polisakkaritler ve lipitleri içerir.Plastikler en yaygın sentetik polimerlerden bazılarıdır ve naylon, polietilen ve teflon içerir. Polymers are large molecules made from repeating units called monomers. These long chains can form many common materials. Their structure helps explain why different polymers can behave in different ways.
