Types of Genetic Transfer Between Organisms

يحدث نقل جينى عندما تكون المعلومات الجينية منقولة من كائن حي إلى آخر. هناك نوعان من النقل الجينى،رأسي وأفقي. النقل الجينى الرأسي،الأكثر شيوعاًبين الاثنين،هو انتقال المعلومات الوراثية من جيل واحد 00:00:20.400 00:00:22.320 إلى التالي.يحدث النقل الجينى العمودي في الكائنات الحية التى تتكاثر جنسيا حيث يمر تقريبا نصف دى إن أيه إلى الأبناء 00:00:30.350 00:00:33.660 وفي الكائنات الحية التى تتكاثر لاجنسيا والتى تنتج ذرية متطابقة وراثيا. النقل الجينى الأفقى على العكس من ذلك،يحدث عندما تكون المادة الوراثية من كائن حي قد أ دخلت لكائن حي آخر فى نفس الجيل. في حالة بعض انواع بدائيات النوى مثل البكتيريا،يحدث نقل افقى للجين بين الأنواع المختلفة.النقل الافقى للجين فى بدائيات النوى يحدث عبر ثلاث آليات،التحول،الدمج،والتوافق. في التحول،الخلية بدائية النواة تأخذ الدى ان ايه المجرد(بدون الهيستون)من البيئة. أثناء عملية الدمج،الفيروسات و الفيروسات البكتيرية(العاثيات)في هذا المثال،تحلل دى إن إيه فى الخلية المضيفة لهم.الأطوال الصغيرة من الحمض النووي المضيف يمكن تعبئتها في سلالة من البكتريوفاج قبل أن تتحلل الخلية المضيفة. ثم تستمر السلالة الفيروسية فى إصابة المزيد من الخلايا البكتيرية،وبالتالي تصبح هذه السلالة وسيط غير متعمد للنقل بطريقة الدمج. في المرافقة،دى إن أيه يتم نقله مباشرة من خلية إلى آخرى عبر بنية تسمى الشعرة الإخصابية.على الرغم من ان المرافقة هى شكل من أشكال التزاوج إلا انه بالنسبة للكائنات لا جنسية التكاثر لا يعتبر تزاوج جنسي حقيقى لأنه لا توجد أمشاج متبادلة أو نسل تم إنتاجه. وكل من هذه الآليات يمكن ملاحظتها في الطبيعة ولها تطبيقات معملية. على سبيل المثال،يمكن استخدام الترافق لمنح مقاومة المضادات الحيوية من سلالة بكتيرية إلى آخرى،مانحة بذلك سلالة 00:02:13.510 00:02:17.370 يمكن أن تكون مقاومة لمضادّات حيويّة متعددة.

Genetic transfer is the movement of genetic information from one organism to another. It happens in two main ways: vertical gene transfer and horizontal gene transfer. Vertical gene transfer moves genes from one generation to the next. It is much more common than horizontal gene transfer.

Vertical gene transfer happens during both sexual reproduction and asexual reproduction. In both cases, one or more organisms pass some or all of their genome to their offspring. This kind of transfer occurs in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic species. It explains how traits are passed down through generations.

Horizontal gene transfer moves genetic information to a member of the same generation. It happens most often in prokaryotic species. In eukaryotes, transfer between different species is very rare, but in prokaryotes it occurs frequently. This makes horizontal gene transfer an important source of genetic diversity among prokaryotes.

Most prokaryotic species reproduce asexually. This helps them make offspring quickly, but the offspring have limited genetic diversity. Horizontal gene transfer helps add new genetic variation. Scientists think that horizontal gene transfer and mutation are two of the biggest sources of genetic variation in prokaryotes, and this variation provides raw material for natural selection.

A clear example is antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Genes that give resistance to an antibiotic can move between different species and strains of bacteria. This can give the receiving bacteria a selective advantage. Penicillin-resistant strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which causes gonorrhea, are one example. Over millions of years, some estimates suggest that at least 18% of the E. coli genome was acquired through horizontal gene transfer.
