Fourier Transform properties help radio broadcasting manage signals in the time and frequency domains. These properties are useful for sending multiple audio channels at once, changing clip speed, adding broadcast delays, adjusting audio frequencies, and demodulating signals. They make it easier to transmit and receive audio clearly.

When broadcasters combine several audio signals, the Fourier Transform simplifies the process. If f(t) and g(t) have Fourier Transforms F(ω) and G(ω), then the transform of af(t) + bg(t) is aF(ω) + bG(ω), where a and b are constants. This linearity helps broadcasters handle multiple channels efficiently.

The Fourier Transform also supports audio speed changes. When a signal is scaled as f(at), its frequency content stretches or compresses. That change can alter the pitch and speed of an audio clip, which is useful for adjusting playback.

Time shifts are important for live broadcasts across different time zones. If a function f(t) is shifted by t0, its Fourier Transform gains a phase factor e^-iωt0. The magnitude of the spectrum stays the same, so the frequencies do not change even though the phase does. This allows broadcasters to delay audio without distorting the original signal.

Another useful property is differentiation. The Fourier Transform of the derivative f'(t) is iωF(ω). Broadcasters can use this idea to emphasize or reduce certain frequency components through filtering, which changes the tonal quality of audio.

Signal demodulation also relies on Fourier Transform properties. When a function f(t) is integrated in the time domain, its Fourier Transform is divided by iω, with an added term to account for the DC component. This helps recover the baseband signal from a modulated carrier wave. That step is essential for clear radio audio retrieval.
