If there are two functions with their respective Fourier transforms, the Fourier transform of these can be easily found, even if they form a linear combination of an arbitrary number of signals.
When a function is scaled in time by a real constant, the frequency components of its Fourier transform are inversely scaled.
When shifted in time by a constant amount, the original function maintains the same magnitude of the spectrum. This implies that a time delay alters the phase of the spectrum but not its magnitude.
The Fourier transform of the derivative of a function is obtained by multiplying the Fourier transform of the original function by j&#969;.

Fourier Transform properties help radio broadcasting manage signals in the time and frequency domains. When broadcasters combine several audio signals, the Fourier Transform simplifies the process. If f(t) and g(t) have Fourier Transforms F(ω) and G(ω), then the transform of af(t) + bg(t) is aF(ω) + bG(ω), where a and b are constants. This linearity helps broadcasters handle multiple channels efficiently.

The Fourier Transform also supports audio speed changes. When a signal is scaled as f(at), its frequency content stretches or compresses. That change can alter the pitch and speed of an audio clip, which is useful for adjusting playback.
