Hand Mesh Reconstruction

Hand mesh reconstruction is a computer vision technique that estimates the three-dimensional shape and articulated pose of a human hand from visual data, providing a detailed representation for analyzing hand behavior. The process typically uses images or video with learned models to infer hand landmarks, joint configuration, surface vertices, and finger articulation, then organizes these elements into a connected mesh. This representation supports gesture recognition, motion tracking, human-computer interaction, and behavioral analysis by capturing how hand shape and movement change over time. It also enables quantitative study of coordination, manipulation, and nonverbal communication in applications spanning robotics, biomechanics, and interactive systems.

Mesh Analysis

Mesh analysis is a valuable method for simplifying circuit analysis using mesh currents as key circuit variables. Unlike nodal analysis, which focuses on determining unknown voltages, mesh analysis applies Kirchhoff's voltage law (KVL) to find unknown currents within a circuit. This method is particularly convenient in reducing the number of simultaneous equations that need to be solved. A fundamental concept in mesh analysis is the definition of meshes and mesh currents. A mesh is a closed...

The Rubber Hand Illusion

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Reaching for objects, walking without hitting obstacles, landing on a chair as you sit (instead of falling to the floor), these and all our physical actions depend on an ability to perceive our own bodies in space, to know where our limbs are relative to one another and relative to the rest of the world. One way that the human brain encodes this information is called proprioception, the brain relies on its own control and feedback...

Asepsis is the practice of preventing or breaking the chain of infection. The nurse employs aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of microorganisms and reduce the risk of diseases. Hand hygiene is the cornerstone of aseptic techniques and is classified into medical and surgical asepsis. Medical asepsis includes hand hygiene and the use of gloves. Surgical asepsis, or the sterile technique, refers to practices that render and keep objects and areas free of microorganisms. Hand washing...
