Supination Training

Supination training is a structured behavioral method for teaching or reinforcing supination, the outward rotation of the forearm that turns the palm or grasping surface upward. Training typically pairs a cue with the target movement and uses shaping, repetition, and reinforcement to strengthen the desired motor response, allowing performance to become more consistent over time. In behavioral research, this approach can help investigate motor learning, coordination, stimulus-response associations, and the effects of practice or intervention on skilled movement. Standardized supination tasks also provide measurable outcomes for comparing individuals, evaluating changes in behavior, and studying how movement is acquired and retained.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. A Stepwise Approach to Training Proper training and competency in animal procedures are essential to ensure high standards of animal welfare and reliable scientific outcomes. A structured, progressive training approach is...

2024

Varicocele relies heavily on angiographic diagnostic techniques for disease-related examination and assessment. In order to diagnose varicocele better, we combined supine and standing positions for varicocele imaging, and contrast-enhanced ultrasound is used for patients with inconspicuous reflux. This approach facilitates the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of varicocele.

The ability to induce and/or control neural plasticity may be critical in future treatments for neurologic disorders and the recovery from brain injury. In this paper, we present a protocol on the use of neurofeedback training with functional magnetic resonance imaging to modulate human brain function.
