Adult Vial Test

An Adult Vial Test is an insecticide bioassay used to measure the susceptibility of adult insects, especially mosquitoes, to a chemical treatment. In this method, adult specimens are introduced into vials coated with a defined insecticide concentration and observed for knockdown or mortality over a specified exposure and recovery period, with untreated controls helping distinguish chemical effects from handling or environmental stress. Results indicate whether a population shows expected susceptibility or reduced sensitivity, supporting insecticide-resistance surveillance, vector-control decisions, and evaluation of candidate compounds. Standardized conditions and careful species identification improve interpretation and comparability across studies.

Adult Stem Cells

2019

Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that divide and produce more stem cells or progenitor cells that differentiate into mature, specialized cell types. All the cells in the body are generated from stem cells in the early embryo, but small populations of stem cells are also present in many adult tissues including the bone marrow, brain, skin, and gut. These adult stem cells typically produce the various cell types found in that tissue—to replace cells that are damaged or to continuously renew...

The zebrafish adult kidney is an excellent system for renal regeneration and disease studies. An essential aspect of such research is the assessment of nephron structure and function. This protocol describes several methodologies that can be implemented to assess nephron tubule composition and to evaluate renal reabsorption.
