Dysmenorrhea Causes

Dysmenorrhea causes are the biological and clinical factors that produce painful menstruation, a common condition that can affect daily activities, education, and work. In primary dysmenorrhea, increased production of endometrial prostaglandins during menstruation causes stronger uterine contractions, reduced local blood flow, and cramping without an underlying pelvic disorder. Secondary dysmenorrhea results from conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, or pelvic inflammatory disease and may develop later or worsen over time. Understanding these causes helps distinguish typical menstrual pain from symptoms requiring evaluation, guides treatment selection, and supports research into reproductive physiology and menstrual health.

This article demonstrates the standardized operation process of Zhuang medicine line moxibustion in experimental animals. To achieve repeatability and accuracy of Zhuang medicine line moxibustion, we developed a simulator to maintain strength, heat, and frequency. We constructed a dysmenorrhea model for experimental verification in rats with cold coagulation syndrome.

Here, a comparative analysis of raw and processed Cyperi rhizoma (CR) samples is presented using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) in rats with primary dysmenorrhea. The changes in blood levels of the metabolites and the sample constituents were examined between rats treated with CR and CR processed with vinegar (CRV).
