Epoxy Glass Seal

Epoxy glass seal is a durable bond formed when an epoxy resin adheres to a glass surface, creating a stable barrier that helps protect and secure biological specimens or components. The resin initially flows into microscopic surface irregularities, then hardens through chemical curing and cross-linking to produce a rigid, moisture-resistant seal. In biological research, epoxy glass seals support specimen mounting, slide preparation, and the preservation of samples for microscopy by limiting movement, contamination, and exposure to the surrounding environment. Their strength and chemical resistance also make them useful when preparations must remain stable during handling, imaging, or long-term storage.

2019

Key procedures to optimize the sealing process and achieve real-time monitoring of the metal-to-glass seal (MTGS) structure are described in detail. The embedded fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor is designed to achieve online monitoring of temperature and high-level residual stress in the MTGS with simultaneous environmental pressure monitoring.

The Looking Glass Self

2025

The concept of the looking-glass self describes how an individual's self-concept is shaped by their perception of how others see them. This psychological theory, first introduced by sociologist Charles Horton Cooley in 1902, posits that self-identity emerges in a social context and is influenced by the judgments—real or imagined—of others.Research suggests that individuals frequently overestimate how positively others perceive them. This is particularly evident in physical self-perception,...

2026

A novel sealing protocol to produce water-tight silicone-based seals for membranes of Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) chip devices. Intended for labs setting-up chip models and small-scale chip platform development. We demonstrate the protocol using plastic and native tissue membranes. This procedure only requires PDMS, toluene, mold, membrane, and a vacuum chamber.
