Load Bearing

Load bearing is the capacity of a structure, component, or material to support applied forces without excessive deformation, instability, or failure. In engineering, loads move through connected elements such as beams, columns, walls, joints, and foundations, while each element resists compression, tension, shear, or bending according to its geometry, material properties, and boundary conditions. Engineers assess load paths, stiffness, strength, and safety factors to select suitable materials and dimensions. This analysis supports the design and evaluation of buildings, bridges, vehicles, machines, and other systems, helping improve structural safety, durability, and performance.

This study established a rat femoral half-segmental defect model to evaluate the mechanical and osteogenic performance of bone substitute materials under load-bearing conditions without the use of internal or external fixation.

Intranasal Delivery of Therapeutic Neural Stem Cells (NSCs) in Murine Model: A Procedure for Tumor-targeted Delivery of Oncolytic Virus Loaded NSCs into Brain Tumor Bearing Mouse Model

2025

This video demonstrates the intranasal delivery of oncolytic virus loaded therapeutic neural stem cells into a brain-tumor bearing mouse model. The non-invasive intranasal administration of stem cells bypasses the blood brain barrier, facilitating their delivery to the tumor site in the brain for therapeutic applications.

Azimuths and Bearings

2025

Azimuths and bearings are essential concepts in surveying, providing methods to express the direction of a line relative to a meridian. Azimuths refer to the clockwise angle measured from the north end of a reference meridian to the given line, ranging from zero to 360 degrees. This method gives a comprehensive directional reference within a full 360-degree circle, making it a straightforward way to communicate direction in various fields, including navigation, cartography, and...

Bearing Stress

2025

Bearing stress refers to the contact pressure between two separate bodies. To visualize this, imagine a bolt thrust through a plate. The bolt applies a force to the plate, which exerts an equal but opposite force back onto the bolt. This force isn't just a singular entity but a compilation of numerous smaller forces distributed across the contact surface between the bolt and the plate. Due to the intricacy of these microforces, an average value, known as bearing stress, is often used by...

Collar Bearings

2023

Collar bearings are essential in various machines designed to support axial loads on rotating shafts. Depending on the specific application and requirements, they can be found with single or multiple collars. Consider a single collar bearing subjected to an axial load. The total bearing contact area is the region between the external radius and the internal radius of the collar. When the bearing is assumed to provide even support, the uniform normal pressure can be calculated by dividing the...
