Glove Bag System

A glove bag system is a sealed, flexible enclosure that allows workers to handle materials while maintaining a controlled barrier between the work area and the surrounding environment. Built-in gloves let users manipulate tools and objects inside the bag, while the enclosure’s sealed openings and controlled ventilation help contain dust, fibers, vapors, or other hazardous substances. In environmental work, glove bags support localized removal, sampling, maintenance, and decontamination tasks involving contaminated equipment or materials. By limiting release and reducing the spread of pollutants, they complement personal protective equipment, waste controls, and broader contamination-management procedures.

We present a simple and efficient protocol for the generation of human macrophages. Buffy coats are processed by double density gradient centrifugation and isolated monocytes are then differentiated to macrophages in Teflon-coated cell culture bags. This maximizes macrophage yields and facilitates cell harvesting for subsequent experiments.
