User Generated Content

User-generated content (UGC) is original material created and shared by consumers rather than by a brand, including reviews, photos, videos, social media posts, and testimonials. In marketing, UGC works through voluntary participation and peer-to-peer communication, allowing customers to demonstrate product experiences while social platforms distribute that content to wider audiences. Brands can encourage, curate, and republish relevant contributions to build authenticity, strengthen community engagement, and provide social proof during purchasing decisions. Analyzing UGC also helps marketers understand customer perceptions, identify emerging trends, refine messaging, and develop campaigns that reflect real consumer interests.
