Triangle Dilation

Triangle dilation is a geometric transformation that enlarges or reduces a triangle while preserving its shape, making it a useful model for scale, similarity, and proportional reasoning. With a chosen center of dilation, each vertex moves along a line through that center, and its distance from the center is multiplied by the same scale factor; corresponding sides remain parallel and their lengths change proportionally. In mathematics, triangle dilation helps students analyze similar figures, determine unknown side lengths, and understand coordinate transformations. It also supports scale drawings, indirect measurement, and geometric proofs, while showing that areas change by the square of the scale factor.

Similar Triangles

Two triangles are similar when they have the same shape, although their sizes may differ. Similarity depends on specific relationships between the corresponding angles and corresponding sides of the triangles. In similar triangles, each angle in one triangle is equal to its corresponding angle in the other triangle. However, corresponding sides do not necessarily have equal lengths. Instead, all corresponding side lengths change by the same proportional amount, known as the scale factor.The...

Here, we present a protocol to perform full-endoscopic trans-Kambin triangle lumbar interbody fusion (KLIF). The protocol utilizes a posterolateral approach via Kambin’s triangle for safe expandable cage insertion and neural decompression while preserving dorsal facet structure and minimizing soft tissue trauma.

Trigonometry of Right Triangles

In a right triangle, trigonometric functions establish specific ratios that describe the relationship between the lengths of the triangle's sides and its acute angles. These relationships are foundational in understanding the structure of right-angled geometry. The sine function quantifies the proportion of the side opposite a given angle compared to the triangle's hypotenuse. In contrast, the cosine function expresses how the side adjacent to the angle relates to the hypotenuse in terms of...

Congruent Triangles

Congruent triangles are triangles that have exactly the same size and shape. Although congruent triangles may have different positions or orientations, their corresponding sides have equal lengths, and their corresponding angles have equal measures. To establish triangle congruence, it is not necessary to verify all six corresponding measurements. Several congruence criteria provide sufficient conditions. The Side-Side-Side (SSS) criterion states that two triangles are congruent when all three...
