Flux Change

Flux change is the variation of a physical field passing through a defined surface, a concept that is especially important for understanding electromagnetic induction. Magnetic flux depends on the field strength, surface area, and angle between the field and the surface; when any of these factors changes over time, Faraday’s law states that an electromotive force is induced, with its direction opposing the change according to Lenz’s law. This principle explains how generators and transformers convert or transfer electrical energy and supports applications in power systems, sensors, wireless charging, and experimental studies of electromagnetic behavior.

Measurements of CO2 Fluxes at Non-Ideal Eddy Covariance Sites

2019

The presented protocol uses the eddy covariance method at non-typical locations, applicable to all types of short-canopy ecosystems with limited area, on a currently reforested windthrow site in Poland. Details of measuring site setup rules, flux calculations and quality control, and final result analysis, are described.

Monitoring B Cell Activation with Antigenic Liposomes using a Calcium-Flux Assay

2025

This video showcases the assessment of B cell activation through the utilization of antigenic liposomes. B cells treated with calcium-sensitive Indo-1 dye are distinguished using flow cytometry, and their violet-to-blue fluorescence ratio is analyzed. As the cells encounter antigenic liposomes, it triggers B cell activation through calcium influx, progressively enhancing the violet-to-blue fluorescence signal ratio over time.

Melting Land and Sea Ice ExpandNOTE: This activity is a simulation of land- and sea-ice melting and their effects on water levels. First, label one graduated cylinder as 'Sea Ice' and the other graduated cylinder as 'Land Ice.' Hypotheses: the experimental hypothesis might be that the land ice melting will cause the water level to rise more than the melting sea ice. The null hypothesis would be that there will be no difference in the change in water level between the two containers. Add 10 ice...

Climate Change - Concepts

2019

The certainty of climate change remains a public controversy despite the consensus among approximately 97% of active climate researchers, who not only agree that the Earth’s climate is changing but also state that this change is intensified by human activity, predominantly carbon emissions 1. The disconnect between the public and the experts is partly due to poor understanding of the mechanisms involved in climate change as well as the differences among essential concepts such as weather and...

Electric Flux

2025

The concept of flux describes how much of something goes through a given area. More formally, it is the dot product of a vector field within an area. For a better understanding, consider an open rectangular surface with a small area that is placed in a uniform electric field. The larger the area, the more field lines go through it and, hence, the greater the flux; similarly, the stronger the electric field (represented by a greater density of lines), the greater the flux. On the other hand, if...
