Consummate Love

Consummate love is a form of romantic relationship described in Robert Sternberg’s triangular theory of love, combining intimacy, passion, and commitment. It is considered the most complete form in the model because it integrates emotional closeness, physical or motivational attraction, and a sustained decision to maintain the relationship. These components can reinforce one another: intimacy develops through trust and self-disclosure, passion reflects arousal and desire, and commitment supports stability through long-term decisions and actions.
