The use of intravascular imaging modalities for the detection and assessment of atherosclerotic plaque is becoming increasingly useful. Current clinical invasive modalities assess the presence of plaque using anatomical information and include Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). However, such modalities cannot take into account underlying functional biological information, which can however be revealed with the use of molecular imaging. Consequently, intravascular molecular imaging is emerging as a powerful approach. We have developed such a Near-Infrared Fluorescence (NIRF) imaging system and showcased, in both phantom and in-vivo (rabbit) experiments, its potential to successfully detect inflamed atherosclerotic plaques, using appropriate fluorescent probes. Here, we discuss some limitations of the current system and suggest the combined use of the NIRF and IVUS imaging systems as a means for more accurate assessment of atherosclerotic plaque. We include some results and models that showcase the potential power of this kind of hybrid imaging.

L&#x26;#39;utilisation de modalit&#xE9;s d&#x26;#39;imagerie intravasculaire pour la d&#xE9;tection et l&#x26;#39;&#xE9;valuation de la plaque ath&#xE9;roscl&#xE9;rotique est de plus en plus utile. Cliniques actuelles modalit&#xE9;s invasives d&#x26;#39;&#xE9;valuer la pr&#xE9;sence de plaque &#xE0; l&#x26;#39;aide des informations anatomiques et comprennent l&#x26;#39;&#xE9;chographie intravasculaire (IVUS) et tomographie par coh&#xE9;rence optique (OCT). Die Verwendung von intravaskul&auml;re Bildgebungsverfahren f&uuml;r die Erkennung und Bewertung von atherosklerotischen Plaque wird immer n&uuml;tzlich. Aktuelle klinische invasive Modalit&auml;ten das Vorhandensein von Plaque mit anatomischen Informationen zu bewerten und intravaskul&auml;re Ultraschall (IVUS) und Optische Koh&auml;renztomografie (OCT). Jedoch solche Modalit&auml;ten k&ouml;nnen nicht ber&uuml;cksichtigen zugrunde liegenden funktionalen biologischen Informationen, die k&ouml;nnen jedoch mit dem Einsatz von molekularen Bildgebung offenbart werden. Folglich entsteht die intravaskul&auml;re Molekulare Bildgebung als einen leistungsf&auml;higen Ansatz. Wir haben solch ein Near-Infrared Fluoreszenz (NIRF) imaging-System entwickelt und pr&auml;sentiert in Phantom und in-Vivo (Kaninchen) Experimente, sein Potenzial erfolgreich entz&uuml;ndeten atherosklerotischen Plaques, erkennen mit entsprechende fluoreszierende Sonden. Hier diskutieren wir einige Einschr&auml;nkungen des aktuellen Systems und schlagen die kombinierte Nutzung der NIRF und IVUS Bildgebungssysteme als Mittel zur genaueren Beurteilung von atherosklerotischen Plaque. Wir sind einige Ergebnisse und Modelle, die die potenzielle macht diese Art von Hybrid-Bildgebung zu pr&auml;sentieren.

El uso de t&#xE9;cnicas de imagen intravascular para la detecci&#xF3;n y evaluaci&#xF3;n de la placa ateroscler&#xF3;tica se est&#xE1; convirtiendo cada vez m&#xE1;s &#xFA;til. Actuales modalidades invasivas cl&#xED;nicos evaluar la presencia de la placa con la informaci&#xF3;n anat&#xF3;mica y son la ecograf&#xED;a intravascular (IVUS) y tomograf&#xED;a de coherencia &#xF3;ptica (OCT). Sin embargo, estas modalidades no pueden tomar en cuenta la informaci&#xF3;n de base biol&#xF3;gica funcional, que sin embargo puede ser revelado con el uso de la imagen molecular. En consecuencia, la imagen intravascular molecular se est&#xE1; convirtiendo en un enfoque de gran alcance. Hemos desarrollado una fluorescencia en el Infrarrojo Cercano (FIRP) sistema de imagen y mostr&#xF3;, en tanto fantasma y en vivo (de conejo), los experimentos, su potencial para detectar inflamaci&#xF3;n de las placas de ateroma con &#xE9;xito, utilizando sondas fluorescentes adecuadas. En este caso, hablamos de algunas limitaciones del sistema actual y proponer el uso combinado de los sistemas de NIRF e IVUS de im&#xE1;genes como un medio para una evaluaci&#xF3;n m&#xE1;s exacta de la placa ateroscler&#xF3;tica. Se incluyen algunos de los resultados y los modelos que muestran el poder potencial de este tipo de im&#xE1;genes h&#xED;bridas.
