Biography

Salvo Chiantia studied Physics in the University of Palermo where he

graduated in 2003. In 2008, he obtained his PhD in Physics under the

supervision of Prof. Schwille in the TU-Dresden, working on a

combination of Atomic Force Microscopy and single-molecule

fluorescence for the study of cellular membranes. In 2009, he received

a fellowship from the Life Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes

Medical Institute to carry on his postdoctoral

studies at Stony Brook University, NY. Since 2015, he is Junior

Professor in the University of Potsdam, Germany. His research focus is

the study of the assembly of the

Influenza virus in infected cells by means of advanced quantitative

optical microscopy.
