Biography

Dr. Sebastian Paczkowski studied Forestry and Wood Science at the University of Göttingen, Germany. In his PhD he studied applied Chemical Ecology and developed industrial sensor systems imitating beetle olfaction for early fire warning. He also developed a time dependent VOC profile for post mortem time determination. He further worked on biomaterial synthesis and emissions and advanced as teacher and researcher on the field of bioenergy from woody and non-woody biomass at the Universtity of Freiburg, Germany. His recent projects at the Technical University of Rottenburg comprise forest bark beetle detection with VOC-sensing drones, bioenergy raw material characterization, its modification by HTC and the utilization of the HTC process water, biomass pelletization and combustion.
