Eve Higby

Eve Higby is an Assistant Professor of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at California State University, East Bay. She received a B.A. from Florida International University and a Ph.D. from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychology at the University of California, Riverside.

Dr. Higby’s research has focused on multilingualism and aging from cognitive, linguistic, and neural perspectives. She has investigated how the languages of a multilingual interact in the mind, producing unique patterns of language production and comprehension. Her work also addresses the long-term consequences of different types of language experiences on brain structure and on cognitive and linguistic behaviors and how cognitive and linguistic processes interact in multilingualism, aging, and neurodegenerative disease. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the City University of New York, and the University of California.
