Darcie Christensen

Darcie graduated summa cum laude with university and departmental honors from Utah State University (USU) with a B.S. in Biological Engineering in May 2017. She received a Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from USU in May 2019. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Engineering Education, also at USU. She performed undergraduate research in various fields, such as root mimetics, antibiotic inhibition, bioretention, and engineering education. She filed a provisional patent on an external fixation device developed with an industry partner during her capstone project. She has been highly involved with the Engineering Student Council, Tau Beta Pi, Engineering Ambassadors, Engineering State, and Society of Women Engineers throughout her undergraduate and graduate education. She has also been both an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow and a Graduate Teaching Assistant. She was the outstanding senior for the College of Engineering and the 2017 Robins Award Scholar of the Year for USU.

She has received a Tau Beta Pi Fellowship and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Her research interest is on student confidence and success among engineering students. She intends to work as an instructor and specialist in recruitment and retention for a college of engineering. Darcie also likes to ski, play tennis, attend USU sporting events, laugh, bake, and watch March Madness.
