Biography

Hansong Sun is a chief physician, professor and doctoral supervisor, working as the director of the Cardiovascular Surgery Committee of Fuwai Hospital, and the director of the Ward 7 of the Center of Cardiac Surgery for Adults of Fuwai Hospital. After graduating from the Tongji Medical School in 1984, he joined the Fuwai Hospital, engaging in surgical clinical and research affairs. He received the doctor’s degree from Peking Union Medical College in 1993 and furthered studies at the Cardiac Surgery Center of the Saint Vincent Hospital in Oregon from 1997 to 1999.

After being exposed to the surgical clinical tasks for over 3 decades, Hansong Sun excels in cardiovascular surgeries and grows into a veteran to treat coronary heart diseases, valvular heart diseases, end-stage HF and the minimally invasive surgeries of heart diseases.

Hansong Sun focuses on improving the surgery efficacy of coronary heart diseases and the development of the cardiac mechanical auxiliary devices. He is now the lead of the ventricular assisted circulation project of the State Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Disease. He has completed a provincial project and is engaged in the research of the Auxiliary Axial Blood Pump under the National Sci-tech Support Plan, the New Adjustable Mitral Valve Prosthetic Ring under the Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation, and the New In Vitro Adjustable Mitral Valve Prosthetic Ring under the Capital Health Development and Research Project. He has won 3 2nd Prizes on the National Sci-Tech Progresses and 7 Provincial Sci-Tech Progresses, published over 50 articles (15 on SCI journals), and trained over 10 master and doctor candidates.

Hansong Sun also holds such titles as the member of the standing committee of the Chinese Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons, the vice-director member of the coronary heart diseases Academic Board, the vice-director member of the HF Academic Board, the member of the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, the standing member of the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery, the corresponding member of the editorial board of the Chinese Circulation Journal, the member of the Expert Panel on Single Disease Quality Control under the Ministry of Health, the member of Beijing Medical Accident Appraisal Committee, and the member of the Expert Board on Blood for Clinical Use of Beijing Blood Transfusion Quality Control and Improvement Center.
