Biography

ITO Akira is a physical therapist. He obtained a Physical therapy license in 2003.

He obtained his PhD in Human Health Sciences at Kyoto University, Japan in 2015.

Since April 2016, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Physical Therapy, Human Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University.

He worked as a physical therapist at a hospital and gained valuable experience treating patients with a variety of pathologies including osteoarthritis and central/peripheral nerve injuries. He also studied molecular and cellular biology, animal experimentation, and various analytical methods. From these experiences, he have gained sufficient knowledge in the fields of rehabilitation and cellular biology that formed the foundation for his current research focus in the field of Regenerative Rehabilitation. His long-term research interests involve the elucidation of the effects and underlying mechanisms of physical therapy for regenerative medicine. Ultimately, he is interested in clinically translating these findings into the development of more effective physical therapies.
