Biography

Dr. Zoltan Czigany Ph.D. is a Clinician Scientist affiliated with the University Hospital RWTH Aachen, Germany. After receiving his M.D. in 2013 he completed a 3-year Ph.D. program combined with a research fellowship in the topic of ischemia-reperfusion injury and experimental liver transplantation. In 2015 he started his clinical training as a general surgeon. He is recipient of multiple awards from different associations (e.g. Fellowship Award of the European Society for Surgical Research 2013, Young Investigator Award of the European Society for Organ Transplantation 2019, Young Investigator Award of the International Society for Experimental Microsurgery 2016, Rising Star Award International Liver Transplantation Society 2020) and authors over 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters published in prestigious journals of the field (American Journal of Transplantation, Liver International, Gastroenterology, HPB, European Journal of Surgical Oncology, JoVE). His projects have received research funding from different institutions.
