Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury has become a global public health concern. An increasing amount of evidence has shown that polyphyllin I (PPI) has anti-apoptotic and antioxidant functions. This study was performed to evaluate the cardioprotective effects of PPI in a rat model of myocardial I/R injury and the underlying mechanism.

Andrographolide (Andro) is an active compound extracted from Andrographis, which has protective anti-inflammatory effects. But, its pathological role in coronary heart disease (CHD) is unclear, the aim of this study is to investigate the therapeutic effect of Andro in CHD and explore its potential mechanism.

Andrographolide protects against endothelial dysfunction and inflammatory response in rats with coronary heart disease by regulating PPAR and NF-κB signaling pathways.

Inflammation accounts for the process of type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM), the specific mechanism of which is still to be elucidated yet. Nitric oxide (NO), a critical inflammation regulator, the role of which is the inflammation of T2DM, is rarely reported. Therefore, our study is aimed at exploring the effect of NO on the inflammation in T2DM and the corresponding mechanism. We analyzed the NO levels in plasma samples from T2DM patients and paired healthy adults by Nitric Oxide Analyzer then measured the expression of inflammatory cytokines (C-reactive protein, heptoglobin, IL-1, TNF-, IL-6) in insulin-induced HepG2 cells treated with NO donor or NO scavenger, and the PPAR, eNOS, C-reactive protein, heptoglobin, IL-1, TNF-, and IL-6 levels were detected by RT-PCR and western blot in insulin-induced HepG2 cells transfected with si-PPAR. The results showed that excess NO increased the inflammation marker levels in T2DM, which is activated by the PPAR/eNOS pathway. These findings will strengthen the understanding of NO in T2DM and provide a new target for the treatment of T2DM.

Nitric Oxide Mediates Inflammation in Type II Diabetes Mellitus through the PPAR/eNOS Signaling Pathway.

The therapeutic effect of grain-sized moxibustion (GS-Moxi) on inflammatory pain has been well recognized clinically, but the mechanism remains unclear. STIM1/ORAI1 is a sensible temperature channel, therefore; this study aimed to investigate the analgesic effect of GS-Moxi and the association with STIM1/ORAI1 expression. CFA-induced inflammatory pain model was established and was treated with GS-Moxi after 3 days of CFA injection. The behavioral test was measured after the GS-Moxi; then, serum was prepared for IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α, and the stimulated skin was used for measuring STIM1 and ORAI1 expression. The results indicated GS-Moxi had an analgesic effect on inflammatory pain and the heat variation was significant for the analgesia. GS-Moxi decreased the expression of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. Immunofluorescence and western blot analysis illustrated that heat change was associated with the stimulation of STIM1 and ORAI1. Suggesting that heat variation created by GS-Moxi could be crucial in this therapy and STIM1 and ORAI1 were potential enhancers in regulating analgesia of GS-Moxi.

The role of STIM1/ORAI1 channel in the analgesic effect of grain-sized moxibustion on inflammatory pain mice model.

With the continuous progression of a new generation of adjuvant chemotherapy, the survival time of breast cancer patients has also been significantly improved. Chemotherapy alone will cause a series of side effects, which will seriously affect the quality of life of breast cancer patients. Chinese medicine combined with neoadjuvant chemotherapy has a unique advantage in the treatment of breast cancer.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of traditional Chinese medicine with chemotherapy in breast cancer.

This study is to elucidate the functions of miR-100 in hepatocellular carcinoma progression and to explore the underlying mechanisms. Expression levels of miR-100 in normal-cancer hepatocellular carcinoma tissues were measured using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). The invasive and proliferative abilities of hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines transfected with mimic-NC or mimic-miR-100 were measured using transwell, CCK-8, and colony formation assays. The binding sites between CXCR7 and miR-100 were determined using luciferase reporter assays. The correlation of CXCR7 and miR-100 in hepatocellular carcinoma progression was further confirmed by cotransfection assays. Our results showed that miR-100 was significantly lower expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and negatively associated with CXCR7 expression. Cell functional assays' results found that upregulation of miR-100 inhibited the proliferative, invasive, and migrative abilities in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Luciferase reporter assay suggested that CXCR7 mRNA and miR-100 bound one another. Increasing CXCR7 expression reversed the inhibitive effects of upregulated miR-100 in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Further study showed that miR-100/CXCR7 played a role in hepatocellular carcinoma progression by regulating metalloproteinase-2 (MMP2) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Conclusively, miR-100 exerts antitumor effects on hepatocellular carcinoma. Overexpression of miR-100 attenuates the invasive and proliferative abilities of hepatocellular carcinoma cells by targeting CXCR7.
