We reviewed the safety of our practice of admitting patients who have undergone a craniotomy for resection of an intra-axial brain tumor to a floor bed instead of an ICU. We also tried to quantify the risk that patients electively admitted to the ICU would develop a problem that could not have been effectively managed on the ward.

Can patients safely be admitted to a ward after craniotomy for resection of intra-axial brain tumors?

Our study aimed to report both new and previously identified conditions associated with moyamoya syndrome in a Western population and to present our outcomes after surgical treatment with indirect bypass.

Factors Associated with Moyamoya Syndrome in a Kentucky Regional Population.

Thoracic arachnoid webs are a rare entity and can be challenging to diagnose with sometimes subtle radiographic findings. Arachnoid webs can cause severe cord compression with associated syrinx and resulting myelopathy, weakness, sensory loss, and bowel/bladder dysfunction. There have been a little over 60 cases total reported in the literature with only one systematic review. The cases presented here have unique features including rapid onset of symptoms, symptomatic syrinx extending into the cervical spine, and intraoperative syrinx drainage, all of which are quite rare in the current published literature for arachnoid webs.
