Based on the characteristics of random and fuzziness, and the shortage and imprecision of datum information of water environmental system, environment background value of sediments and concentration of pollution is calculated by means of triangle fuzzy number and fuzzy risk assessment model of the potential ecological risk index is established. Using this method heavy metal pollution and ecological risk in the Yangtze Estuary and its adjacent waters were analyzed. The result shows that the environment of the foundation of the study area is subject to varying degrees of pollution. The pollution extents are correspondingly Cu, Hg, Zn, Pb, As, Cd. RI by that method and the Hakanson ecological risk method is in similar trend. RI of the estuary, turbidity maximum zone and Hangzhou bay is greater than that at outside of the estuary and sea area nearby Zhousan, and the potential ecological risk rate increases one. The assessment result is good in the validation based on the corresponding period macrobenthic community parameters.

[Ecological risk assessment of sediment pollution based on triangular fuzzy number].

A benthic index of biotic integrity (B-IBI) was developed for application in estuaries health assessment of the Yangtze Estuary and its adjacent waters. Benthic macro-invertebrate samples were collected from 41 stream sites (13 non-degraded stations and 28 degraded stations) in the Yangtze Estuary and its adjacent waters in July, 2005. The analyses of the range of index value distribution, Pearson correlation and judgment ability were performed on fourteen candidate metrics. Six biological metrics were selected for the establishment of B-IBI, which were Shannon-Wiener index, the species number, total density, total biomass, Carapace Animals density percentage and Echinoderms density percentage. B-IBI was obtained by sum up all these indices after which were transformed into a uniform score by using the ratio scoring method. Base on 50 percentile of B-IBI value in reference sites, the criteria of health ranking was determined. The proposed criteria of benthic-index of biotic integrity were as follows: B-IBI > 2.48 was regarded as health, 1.86-2.48 sub-health, 1.24-1.86 fair, 0.62-1.24 poor, and B-IBI < 0.62 very poor. Assessing with these criteria, the results showed that among the 41 sites in Yangtze Estuary and its adjacent waters, 7 sites were health, 2 sites were sub-health, 8 sites were fair, 8 sites were poor and 16 sites were very poor. An independent data set sampled in June of 2006 was used to validate the index, the results indicated that final combined index correctly classified 89% of stations in the validation data set.

[Design of hospital mobile clinical tablet PC].

The insect midgut epithelium is generally lined with a unique chitin and protein structure, the peritrophic membrane (PM), which facilitates food digestion and protects the gut epithelium. PM proteins are important determinants for PM structure and formation. In this study, the silkworm Bombyx mori midgut PM protein BmCDA7 was identified by proteomic tools. The full-length BmCDA7 cDNA is 1357 bp; the deduced protein is composed of 379 amino acid residues and includes a 16 amino acid residue signal peptide, a putative polysaccharide deacetylase-like domain and 15 cysteine residues present in three clusters. The heterologously expressed proteins of the BmCDA7 gene in yeast displayed chitin deacetylase activity. Expression of B. mori BmCDA7 was detected in the midgut at both the transcriptional and translational levels. The BmCDA7 gene was expressed by the newly hatched silkworm larvae until day seven of the fifth instar and was expressed at a high level in the newly exuviated larvae of different instars. The functions and regulatory mechanism of BmCDA7, however, need further investigation. 

Identification and molecular characterization of a chitin deacetylase from Bombyx mori peritrophic membrane.

Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are multifunctional enzymes that are widely distributed in different species. GSTs detoxify exogenous and endogenous substances by conjugation to reduced glutathione. We characterized BmGSTD4, an antenna-specific GST, in male silkmoths. The full-length mRNA of Bmgstd4 was cloned by RACE-PCR and contained an open reading frame of 738 bp encoding a 245 amino acid protein. The antenna specificity of BmGSTD4 was validated at the mRNA and protein levels and BmGSTD4 was shown to localize in the sensillum of male silkmoth antennae. Homology modeling and multi-sequence alignment suggested that BmGSTD4 was a typical GST belonging to the δ class and had a canonical GST fold with a conserved N-terminus, including a glutathione-binding site and a C-terminal domain harboring a hydrophobic substrate-binding site. Restricted expression of BmGSTD4 in silkmoth antennae combined with GST activity suggested that BmGSTD4 was involved in the detoxification of harmful chemicals.

Previous studies have implicated autophagy in osteoclast differentiation. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential role of p62, a characterized adaptor protein for autophagy, in RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis. Real-time quantitative PCR and western blot analyses were used to evaluate the expression levels of autophagy-related markers during RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis in mouse macrophage-like RAW264.7 cells. Meanwhile, the potential relationship between p62/LC3 localization and F-actin ring formation was tested using double-labeling immunofluorescence. Then, the expression of p62 in RAW264.7 cells was knocked down using small-interfering RNA (siRNA), followed by detecting its influence on RANKL-induced autophagy activation, osteoclast differentiation, and F-actin ring formation. The data showed that several key autophagy-related markers including p62 were significantly altered during RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation. In addition, the expression and localization of p62 showed negative correlation with LC3 accumulation and F-actin ring formation, as demonstrated by western blot and immunofluorescence analyses, respectively. Importantly, the knockdown of p62 obviously attenuated RANKL-induced expression of autophagy- and osteoclastogenesis-related genes, formation of TRAP-positive multinuclear cells, accumulation of LC3, as well as formation of F-actin ring. Our study indicates that p62 may play essential roles in RANKL-induced autophagy and osteoclastogenesis, which may help to develop a novel therapeutic strategy against osteoclastogenesis-related diseases.

Dystrophic scoliosis in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is difficult to treat. The purpose of this study was to review the clinical and radiological outcome of surgical treatment of dystrophic spinal curves in NF-1, for analyzing its efficacy, safety, and possible complications.This retrospective study consisted of 26 NF-1 patients with spinal deformities treated between 2003 and 2012 in our department. Preoperative X-ray, 3D-CT, and MRI were performed to evaluate the deformities of dystrophic scoliosis accurately. All patients were treated with posterior instrumented fusion alone using screws and hooks. According to the anatomical development situation of each patient's pedicles and the transverse processes, we chose different fixations and different fixed segments. The clinical and radiological outcomes of surgical correction were evaluated postoperatively.The average preoperative kyphosis was 43° (range 15-86°). The postoperative kyphosis had an average of 20° (range 10-39°) yielding 53% correction. At final follow-up, there was an average of 4.6% correction loss. The preoperative scoliosis Cobb angle had an average of 47° (range 35-96°). The postoperative scoliosis Cobb angle had an average of 21° (range 10-37°) yielding 55% correction. At final follow-up, there was an average of 6.6% correction loss. The apical vertebral body rotation was corrected by an average of 48%. At final follow-up, the score of the SRS-30 questionnaire ranged from 97 to 135 with an average of 109.In conclusion, the deformities of dystrophic scoliosis can be accurately determine through preoperative radiolographic evaluation, which plays an important role in guiding the correction of scoliosis program development. The results of this study demonstrate that satisfactory therapeutic effects can be achieved in the dystrophic scoliosis patients by preoperative meticulous surgical plans, intraoperative careful manipulation, and hybrid instrumentation.

Surgical Treatment of Dystrophic Spinal Curves Caused by Neurofibromatosis Type 1: A Retrospective Study of 26 Patients.

Monitoring of eating behavior using wearable technology is receiving increased attention, driven by the recent advances in wearable devices and mobile phones. One particularly interesting aspect of eating behavior is the monitoring of chewing activity and eating occurrences. There are several chewing sensor types and chewing detection algorithms proposed in the bibliography, however no datasets are publicly available to facilitate evaluation and further research. In this paper, we present a multi-modal dataset of over 60 hours of recordings from 14 participants in semi-free living conditions, collected in the context of the SPLENDID project. The dataset includes raw signals from a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor and a 3D accelerometer, and a set of extracted features from audio recordings; detailed annotations and ground truth are also provided both at eating event level and at individual chew level. We also provide a baseline evaluation method, and introduce the "challenge" of improving the baseline chewing detection algorithms. Hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (HILIC-MS) was used as an accurate and sensitivity technique to separate and characterize the phospholipids in three strains of soft-shelled turtles. Under the optimized experimental parameters, the lipidomic profiles were successfully acquired, and a total of 55 phospholipid molecular species were identified. The principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to normalize the relative amounts of the phospholipid molecular species and revealed the differences among three strains of soft-shelled turtle, including Qingxi Huabie (QXH, GS-01-003-2008), Zhexin Wubie (ZXW, GS-02-005-2015), and Zhewu Erhao (ZWE, unregistered). Comparing with other methods, HILIC-MS is rapid, efficient and suitable in determining and visualizing phospholipids. This method also can be used for authenticating different strains of soft-shelled turtles.
