Image guided adaptive radiotherapy (IGART) strategies can be used to include the temporal aspects of radiotherapy treatment. A dosimetric evaluation of on- and off-line adaptive strategies are done in this study.

A dosimetric evaluation of IGART strategies for cervix cancer treatment.

In image-guided adaptive brachytherapy (IGABT), dose distributions are optimized for each fraction. Optimum fractional dose can be constant or adapted to previous fractions and a conjecture about the future ones. We evaluate the efficacy of different fraction size schemes, derived from total IGABT dose constraints, against constant per-fraction constraints.

Automation, including the use of artificial intelligence, has been identified as a possible opportunity to help reduce the gap in access and quality for radiotherapy and other aspects of cancer care. The Radiation Planning Assistant (RPA) project was conceived in 2015 (and funded in 2016) to use automated contouring and treatment planning algorithms to support the efforts of oncologists in low- and middle-income countries, allowing them to scale their efforts and treat more patients safely and efficiently (to increase access).
