The acquisition of complex motor sequences often proceeds through trial-and-error learning, requiring the deliberate exploration of motor actions and the concomitant evaluation of the resulting performance. Songbirds learn their song in this manner, producing highly variable vocalizations as juveniles. As the song improves, vocal variability is gradually reduced until it is all but eliminated in adult birds. In the present study we examine how the motor program underlying such a complex motor behavior evolves during learning by recording from the robust nucleus of the arcopallium (RA), a motor cortex analog brain region. In young birds, neurons in RA exhibited highly variable firing patterns that throughout development became more precise, sparse, and bursty. We further explored how the developing motor program in RA is shaped by its two main inputs: LMAN, the output nucleus of a basal ganglia-forebrain circuit, and HVC, a premotor nucleus. Pharmacological inactivation of LMAN during singing made the song-aligned firing patterns of RA neurons adultlike in their stereotypy without dramatically affecting the spike statistics or the overall firing patterns. Removing the input from HVC, on the other hand, resulted in a complete loss of stereotypy of both the song and the underlying motor program. Thus our results show that a basal ganglia-forebrain circuit drives motor exploration required for trial-and-error learning by adding variability to the developing motor program. As learning proceeds and the motor circuits mature, the relative contribution of LMAN is reduced, allowing the premotor input from HVC to drive an increasingly stereotyped song.

L&#39;acquisition de s&eacute;quences motrices complexes souvent proc&egrave;de par essais et erreurs d&#39;apprentissage, n&eacute;cessitant l&#39;exploration d&eacute;lib&eacute;r&eacute;e des actions de moteurs et l&#39;&eacute;valuation concomitante des performances qui en r&eacute;sulte. Oiseaux chanteurs apprennent leur chanson de cette mani&egrave;re, produisant des vocalisations tr&egrave;s variables au stade juv&eacute;nile. Chez les jeunes oiseaux, neurones dans la polyarthrite rhumato&iuml;de expos&eacute; des modes de tir tr&egrave;s variable qui, tout au long du d&eacute;veloppement, sont devenues plus pr&eacute;cises, clairsem&eacute;e et rafales. Nous avons approfondi la fa&ccedil;on dont le d&eacute;veloppement de programme de moteur dans la polyarthrite rhumato&iuml;de est marqu&eacute; par ses deux entr&eacute;es principales : LMAN, le noyau de la sortie d&#39;un circuit de noyaux gris centraux-prosenc&eacute;phale et CHV, un noyau pr&eacute;moteur. Inactivation pharmacologique de LMAN au cours de chant fait les patrons de tir align&eacute; &agrave; la chanson de neurones RA adultlike dans leur st&eacute;r&eacute;otypie sans affecter consid&eacute;rablement les statistiques de l&#39;&eacute;pi ou global modes de tir. Supprimer l&#39;entr&eacute;e de CHV, en revanche, a entra&icirc;n&eacute; une perte compl&egrave;te de la st&eacute;r&eacute;otypie de la chanson et le programme moteur sous-jacent. Der Erwerb von komplexen motor Sequenzen oft geht durch Versuch und Irrtum lernen, erfordert die bewusste Erforschung des motorischen Aktionen und die damit einhergehende Bewertung der resultierenden Leistung. Singv&ouml;gel lernen ihr Lied auf diese Weise produzieren sehr Variable Laute als Jungtiere. Als das Lied verbessert, ist Gesang Variabilit&auml;t schrittweise reduziert, bis es alle aber bei ausgewachsenen V&ouml;geln beseitigt ist. In der vorliegenden Studie untersuchen wir, wie das motor Programm zugrunde liegenden solches komplexes motorische Verhalten w&auml;hrend lernen durch Aufnahme vom robusten Kern der Arcopallium (RA), eine analoge Gehirnregion Motorkortex entwickelt. Jungv&ouml;gel stellte Neuronen im RA sehr variabel feuern Muster, die in der gesamten Entwicklung mehr pr&auml;zise, mit geringer Dichte und viel wurden. Als lernen Erl&ouml;se und die Reifen motor Schaltungen ist der relative Anteil des LMAN reduziert, erm&ouml;glicht dem pr&auml;motorischen Input aus HVC, einen zunehmend Stereotypen Song zu fahren.

Uccelli canori imparano la loro canzone in questo modo, producendo vocalizzazioni molto variabile come juveniles. Come la canzone migliora, variabilit&agrave; vocale &egrave; gradualmente ridotto fino a quando si &egrave; tutti ma eliminato negli uccelli adulti. Rimuovendo l&#39;input da HVC, d&#39;altra parte, ha provocato una perdita completa di assimilazione sia la canzone e il programma motore sottostante. La adquisici&oacute;n de secuencias complejas de motores a menudo procede a trav&eacute;s de ensayo y error de aprendizaje, que requieren la exploraci&oacute;n deliberada de acciones del motores y la evaluaci&oacute;n concomitante del desempe&ntilde;o resultante. Aves canoras aprenden su canci&oacute;n de esta manera, produciendo vocalizaciones muy variables como juveniles. La mejora de la canci&oacute;n, variabilidad vocal se reduce gradualmente hasta que se todo elimina pero en aves adultas. En el presente estudio se examina c&oacute;mo el programa motor subyacente tal complejo comportamiento motor evoluciona durante el aprendizaje mediante la grabaci&oacute;n desde el n&uacute;cleo s&oacute;lido de la arcopallium (RA), una regi&oacute;n del cerebro anal&oacute;gico de corteza motora. En aves j&oacute;venes, neuronas en RA exhiben patrones de disparo muy variable que a lo largo de desarrollo lleg&oacute; a ser m&aacute;s preciso, escasa y r&aacute;fagas. Hemos explorado c&oacute;mo el programa de desarrollo motor en RA es formado por sus dos entradas principales: LMAN, el n&uacute;cleo de la salida de un circuito de los ganglios basales-prosenc&eacute;falo y HVC, un n&uacute;cleo premotor. Inactivaci&oacute;n farmacol&oacute;gica de LMAN durante el canto hizo los patrones alineados canci&oacute;n disparo de neuronas RA adultlike en su estereotipia sin afectar dram&aacute;ticamente las estad&iacute;sticas de la espiga o el general patrones de la le&ntilde;a. Por otro lado, quitar la entrada de HVC, result&oacute; en una p&eacute;rdida completa de la estereotipia de la canci&oacute;n y el programa motor subyacente. As&iacute;, nuestros resultados muestran que un circuito de los ganglios basales-prosenc&eacute;falo unidades motor exploraci&oacute;n necesaria para el ensayo y error de aprendizaje mediante la adici&oacute;n de variabilidad para el programa de desarrollo motor. Como producto de aprendizaje y los circuitos de motores maduros, se reduce la contribuci&oacute;n relativa de LMAN, permitiendo la entrada premotor de HVC para conducir una canci&oacute;n cada vez m&aacute;s estereotipada.
