Infrared thermography technology is a diagnostic imaging modality that converts temperature information on the surface of the human body into visualised thermograms. This technology has the capacity to intuitively detect the presence of certain abnormal conditions or foci in the human body. In recent years, the application of this technology in medicine has become increasingly extensive, especially in the areas of auxiliary diagnosis and early screening of diseases.

Infrared thermography in clinical practice: a literature review.

Cisplatin chemotherapy has been used as the main treatment for different types of cancer. However, cisplatin chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathic pain (CIPNP) seriously affects the treatment process and quality of life of patients. In addition, it impacts the underlying mechanism and prevention and treatment strategies, indicating that drug selection and efficacy evaluation need to be further investigated. Furthermore, an animal model that is more consistent with the pathological mechanism needs to be developed. In this study, we describe and discuss the methods of developing and detecting CIPNP models in rats and mice induced by cisplatin chemotherapy. The aim was to improve the modeling rate and develop animal models that are more consistent with the developmental pattern of the disease. In addition, the study provides ideal reference animal models for clinical research and drug discovery and development.

Animal models of cisplatin-induced neuropathic pain.

The incidence and mortality rates of digestive tract tumors, especially gastric and colorectal cancers, are high worldwide. Owing to their unique advantages, such as efficient drug loading, safety, and targeting properties, nanoparticles (NPs) have demonstrated great potential in the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors. However, their practical application is limited by several factors, such as high costs, few clinical trials, and long approval periods. In this review, we summarize three types of immunotherapeutic nanomaterial drugs for gastrointestinal tumors: organic, inorganic, and hybrid nanomaterials. This article also discusses the current status of research and development in this field and the advantages of each type of material to provide theoretical references for developing new drugs and advancing clinical research.

Nanomaterials for targeted drug delivery for immunotherapy of digestive tract tumors.

Oxaliplatin, a third-generation platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent, has shown substantial efficacy in cancer treatment. However, its associated side effects, particularly chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathic pain (CIPNP), continue to challenge cancer survivors globally. Clinically, it frequently presents as numbness, coldness, and discomfort in the limbs and extremities. Duloxetine is advised for analgesic purposes. Despite its clinical relevance, both the application methods and the underlying mechanisms of oxaliplatin-induced CINP warrant further investigation. Consequently, more precise animal models are needed to explore the mechanisms and progression of this condition. This review consolidates recent advancements in rat and mouse models of oxaliplatin-induced CINP, with the aim of enhancing modeling success rates and developing models that more accurately mirror disease progression. Such models are essential for advancing clinical research and drug development.

Oxaliplatin-induced neuropathic pain in cancer: animal models and related research progress.

The complexity of the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME), which is composed of mainly tumor cells, immune cells, and cytokines, is a major obstacle limiting the effectiveness of immunotherapy, and the interactions among these factors in the TIME determine the efficacy of antitumor immunity. Over the past few years, nanomaterials, owing to their unique physicochemical properties, multifunctionality, and good targeting ability, have gradually become important tools for modulating the immune microenvironment. By precisely delivering immunomodulatory factors, nanomaterials can effectively activate dendritic cells (DCs), enhance the function of effector T cells, and reverse the immunosuppressive state of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). In addition, nanomaterials can alleviate the local hypoxic and acidic tumor microenvironment, which in turn promotes immune cell function and enhances the antitumor immune effect. In light of the aforementioned associations, we summarize the existing studies, systematically describe the latest research progress on the use of nanomaterials in regulating the tumor immune microenvironment, and analyze the potential applications and challenges in tumor immunotherapy, with the goal of providing new therapeutic directions and strategies for tumor immunotherapy.

Modulation of the immune microenvironment using nanomaterials: a new strategy for tumor immunotherapy.

The incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is increasing every year, and there is growing evidence that metabolites and intestinal bacteria play a causal role in NAFLD. Gentiopicroside, a major iridoids compound in gentian, has been reported to reduce hepatic lipid accumulation. However to date, no studies have confirmed whether the predominance of Gentiopicroside is related to metabolites and intestinal bacteria. Therefore, we sought to study whether the hypolipidemic effect of Gentiopicroside is related to metabolic function and intestinal flora regulation.

Gentiopicroside improves high-fat diet-induced NAFLD in association with modulation of host serum metabolome and gut microbiome in mice.

(1) Background: Establishment of a method for evaluating Gentianae Radix et Rhizoma (GRR) classes based on chemical composition and core efficacy; (2) Methods: Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was used to determine the chemical constituents of GRR-first class (GF) and GRR-second class (GS). The cell viability, liver function, oxidative stress enzyme activity, and inflammatory factor levels of GF and GS on HO-induced HepG2 cells were determined with CCK-8, ELISA, and biochemical methods, and the antioxidant activity of the two was evaluated using bioefficacy; ELISA, biochemical methods, real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) method, and Western blot (WB) were used to determine the liver function, oxidative stress enzyme activity, inflammatory factor levels, and expression of related genes and proteins in mice with acute liver injury (ALI) model induced with 0.3% CCl olive oil solution after gavage administration; (3) Results: GF and GS had the same types of components, but the cyclic enol ether terpenes such as morinlon goside c, loganin, gentiopicroside, and swertiamarin differed significantly between the two; the effect of GF on CCl-induced acute hepatic injury in C57BL/6 mice was stronger compared to GS. It helped alleviate weight loss, increase hepatic and splenic indices, improve hepatic lobular structure and hepatocyte status, inhibit collagen deposition, enhance oxidative stress and anti-inflammatory-related genes and protein expression, and decrease apoptotic genes and proteins more significantly than GS; (4) Conclusions: In this study, we established a GRR class evaluation method combining chemical composition and core medicinal effects, which can rapidly determine the differential composition of GF and GS, detect the quality of GRR through antioxidant bioefficacy, and validate it with in vivo experiments, which provides references for the evaluation of the class of GRR and the rational use of medication in the clinic.

A Study of Gentianae Radix et Rhizoma Class Differences Based on Chemical Composition and Core Efficacy.

 Danggui Liuhuang decoction (DLD) demonstrates pharmacological efficacy in the treatment of hyperthyroid kidney disease (HKD). However, the underlying therapeutic mechanism remains inadequately understood. This study aims to elucidate the therapeutic mechanism of DLD in HKD rats by integrating the determination of effective component content, network pharmacology, in vivo verification, and metabolomics, with a focus on the alterations in metabolites and metabolic pathways.  The concentrations of 12 components, including berberine, in DLD were quantified using high-performance liquid chromatography. Network pharmacology was utilized to investigate the interactions between drug targets and disease targets and to predict functional pathways. A rat model of HKD was established to verify the therapeutic mechanism of DLD, which was further elucidated through metabolomics analysis.  The quantification of 12 components, including berberine, in DLD was successfully achieved. Key targets such as TNF and AKT1, along with the PI3K/AKT and MAPK signaling pathways, were identified as critical pathways through network pharmacology analysis. Animal experiments robustly demonstrated the therapeutic efficacy of DLD on HKD, corroborating the network pharmacology findings via histopathological analysis, ELISA, and Western blot (WB). Metabolomics studies revealed significant alterations in 49 metabolites pre- and posttreatment, with notable changes in linoleic acid metabolism and arachidonic acid metabolism pathways. Linoleic acid, arachidonic acid, and 5-HETE were identified as potential biomarkers.  The therapeutic efficacy of DLD in HKD rats was substantiated, and the underlying mechanisms were preliminarily elucidated, thereby providing a foundation for further investigation into the pharmacodynamic substances and mechanisms of action.

Elucidating the Therapeutic Mechanism of Danggui Liuhuang Decoction in Hyperthyroid Kidney Disease: An Integration of Network Pharmacology and Metabolomics.

The intestinal microbiota, present in vast numbers within the human body, plays a pivotal role, with its composition and abundance varying significantly across individuals. This gut microbiota not only contributes to normal physiological development but also impacts the initiation, progression, resolution, and prognosis of various diseases. Recent studies have increasingly illuminated the connection between intestinal microbiota and pain, with a particular focus on the relationship between gut microbiota and neuropathic pain (NP). NP, an acute and chronic pain disorder arising from sensory nervous system injury, encompasses both peripheral and central neuropathic pain. Evidence suggests that intestinal microbiota influences NP occurrence and may modulate its severity. This review synthesizes current research findings on the microbiota-NP relationship, aiming to establish a theoretical foundation for future clinical investigations.

Advances in the Study of Intestinal Microbiota and Neuropathic Pain.

Peripheral Nerve Injury (PNI) is a common condition in modern clinical practice, characterized by a high incidence and significant debilitating consequences. This narrative review systematically delineates the dual functions of key pro-inflammatory (e.g., IL-1β, IL-6, IL-17) and anti-inflammatory (e.g., IL-4, IL-10, IL-13) interleukins in the spatiotemporal context of nerve injury. This is a narrative review, the review systematically summarizes the dual pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory roles of interleukins in peripheral nerve injury. The therapeutic potential of interleukin-based treatment strategies, including inhibitors, agonists, and their combined applications with cell therapy, gene therapy, physical therapy, etc., was explored, and the limitations of current research and future research directions were pointed out. By synthesizing current evidence, this review aims to provide a comprehensive mechanistic overview and highlight emerging interleukin-centric therapeutic paradigms for PNI.

The role of interleukins in peripheral nerve injury and the current status of treatment.

Chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain (CINP) is a frequent side effect of chemotherapy, and the mechanisms by which Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Tang (HQGZWWT) prevents and treats CINP remain to be further elucidated.
