[Effects of splenectomy on patients undergoing liver transplantation].

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a group of small non-coding RNA molecules that have been shown to regulate the expression of genes involved in tumorigenesis. The relevance of miRNAs in the development, progression and prognosis of human breast cancer is not fully understood. miR-185 has been demonstrated to be involved in the pathogenesis of several types of cancers; however, its role in breast cancer has not yet been elucidated. In the present study, the expression of miR-185 was analyzed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. In addition, an MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to determine the rates of cell proliferation and apoptosis. Protein expression was analyzed by western blotting and the target gene was confirmed using a luciferase reporter assay. The expression of miR-185 was found to be downregulated in the breast cancer tissues. The MTT assay revealed that overexpression of miR-185 inhibited the proliferation of MDF7 and SKBR3 cells. Furthermore, flow cytometric analysis demonstrated that increased expression levels of miR-185 promoted the apoptosis of breast cancer cells. In addition, c-Met expression was demonstrated to be significantly upregulated in breast cancer tissues and cells, and the c-Met gene was identified to be a target of miR-185. Therefore, the results demonstrated that miR-185 inhibited the proliferation of breast cancer cells by regulating the expression of c-Met, indicating its potential as a therapeutic target for breast cancer.

Cancer stem cell-tumor microenvironment ecosystem is proposed to drive tumor heterogeneity. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in breast cancer ecosystem were demonstrated to indicate better prognosis and benefit from chemotherapy. This study sought to detect the association between breast cancer stem cells and TILs.

Owing to the absence of any targeted therapies, triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), which accounts for approximately 15% of all breast cancers, typically have a poorer outcome. In an attempt to find out the TNBCs' microenvironment, we ran into the endogenous expression of a newly discovered cytokine known as Interleukin (IL)-22.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is highly malignant and has poor prognosis and a high mortality rate. The lack of effective therapy has spurred our investigation of new targets for treating this malignant cancer. Here, we identified RON (macrophage-stimulating 1 receptor) and MET (MET proto-oncogene, receptor tyrosine kinase) as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic targets for potential TNBC treatment.

RON and MET Co-overexpression Are Significant Pathological Characteristics of Poor Survival and Therapeutic Targets of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer.

Triple-negative breast cancer is a special type of breast cancer, characterized by younger onset age, shorter survival period, higher malignant degree, higher mortality, recurrence and metastasis. Triple-negative breast cancer is more harmful to women's life and health, compared with other types of breast cancer. This paper mainly studied the role of miR-585 in triple-negative breast cancer. Real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression of miR-585 in triple-negative breast cancer cell lines and tissues. Kaplan-Meier curve and Cox proportional hazards model analysis were used to investigate the prognostic value of miR-585 in triple-negative breast cancer. CCK-8 and Transwell assays were used to detect cell proliferation, invasion and migration. miR-585 was significantly down-regulated in triple-negative breast cancer cells and tissues. The low expression of miR-585 has been shown to be significantly associated with poor prognosis in triple-negative breast cancer patients. Abnormally low expression of miR-585 can promote cell proliferation, migration and invasion. Overall, abnormally low expression of miR-585 is associated with prognosis and progression of triple-negative breast cancer. miR-585 may serve as a prognostic biomarker for patients with triple-negative breast cancer and it is expected to be a new method and strategy for the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer.

Single-cell transcriptomic atlas reveals immune and metabolism perturbation of depression in the pathogenesis of breast cancer.

We have developed a high-speed dual-modal imaging system (HDMI), designed to concurrently reveal anatomical and hematogenous details of the human breast within seconds. Through innovative system design and technical advancements, HDMI integrates large-view photoacoustic and ultrasonic computed tomography with standardized scanning and batch data processing for computer-aided diagnosis. It achieves dual-modal imaging at a 10-hertz frame rate and completes a whole-breast scan in 12 seconds, providing penetration up to 5 centimeters in vivo. In a clinical study involving 170 patients with 186 breast tumors, we developed a diagnostic model leveraging combined photoacoustic and ultrasound features. In a triple-blinded comparison using pathological diagnosis as the ground truth, HDMI significantly improved diagnostic specificity from 22.5 to 75.0% compared to clinical ultrasonography. This technology shows strong potential for early breast tumor diagnosis, offering enhanced accuracy without the need for ionizing radiation, exogenous contrast agents, pain, invasiveness, operator dependence, or extended examination times.
