With the introduction of a diisopropyloxyphosphoryl (DIPP) group at the N-terminus of amino acids, the signal response in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry can be enhanced by 10-100-fold in positive mode and even more in negative mode. An enhancement of proton affinity due to the N-terminal DIPP derivatization was considered to be responsible for the sensitivity improvement in positive mode, which was supported by kinetic method studies. Two possible mechanisms, i.e., an increase in gas-phase acidity due to the introduction of the electron-withdrawing DIPP group, and the effect of pH on the formation of anions of amino acids and their phosphorylated derivatives, were considered for the signal response enhancement in negative mode.

Sensitivity improvement of amino acids by N-terminal diisopropyloxyphosphorylation in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry.

Supramolecular eutectogels, an emerging class of materials that have just developed very recently, offer a new opportunity for generating functional supramolecular gel materials in biocompatible anhydrous or low-water media. As the first example of supramolecular G4 eutectogels, complexes of natural guanosine and H BO exhibited excellent gelation capacity in choline chloride/alcohol deep eutectic solvents. The as-prepared supramolecular eutectogels displayed unexpected solvent-induced chiral inversion and significantly high ionic conductivity (up to 7.78 mS cm ), as well as outstanding thixotropic/injectable properties, high thermal stability and excellent electrochromic activity. These features make these versatile supramolecular G4 eutectogels promising candidates for developing next-generation flexible electronics with low environmental impact.

Supramolecular G4 Eutectogels of Guanosine with Solvent-Induced Chiral Inversion and Excellent Electrochromic Activity.

Excessive residues of semicarbazide (SEM) can accumulate in animals after the original drug has been abused, posing a risk to human health. Herein, based on multifunctional silica-initiated dual mode signal response, a novel competitive-type immunosensor was constructed for ultrasensitive detection of SEM. As a preliminary signal amplification platform for immunosensors, polyethyleneimine reduced graphene oxide composite gold nanorods (PEI-rGO/AuNRs) modified gold electrodes (AuE) provide a high specific surface area and high electrical conductivity. The thionine-aminated silica nanospheres-AuPt (thi-SiO@AuPt) were synthesized by a racile coprecipitation method for enzyme immobilization and redox species loading. The multifunctional silica nanosphere conjugated with labeling antibodies (Ab) was employed as an immunoprobe. The per unit concentration target of SEM can be determined by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) to detect the thi loaded on the immunoprobe, which can also be determined by square wave voltammetry (SWV) to detect the current generated by the reaction system of HO and hydroquinone (HQ) catalyzed by the immunoprobe with peroxidase. Under optimal conditions, the proposed immunosensor displayed a wide linear range from 1 μg-0.01 ng/mL and low detection limits (S/N = 3) of 0.488 pg/mL and 0.0157 ng/mL, respectively. Ultimately, the developed method exhibits excellent performance in practical applications, providing promising probabilities for SEM detection.

A novel detection strategy for nitrofuran metabolite residues: Dual-mode competitive-type electrochemical immunosensor based on polyethyleneimine reduced graphene oxide/gold nanorods nanocomposite and silica-based multifunctional immunoprobe.

The tunnel structure of the bronze phase vanadium dioxide (VO(B)) can be used as the zinc ion storage active sites. However, the intense charge repulsion of divalent Zn causes a sluggish reaction kinetics in the tunnel VO(B). Here, a tungsten-oxygen bond pre-introduced (TOBI) approach is proposed to modulate the tunnel structure of VO(B). The VO(B) cathodes with TOBI of 0.5 at% to 3.0 at% have been controllably synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method. The results from structural analysis uncover that the pre-introduced W replaces the V in VO(B) to form WO octahedra. Benefiting from the rapid diffusion kinetics, enhanced structural stability and improved conductivity enabled by the TOBI, the optimal VO(B) nanoribbons with 1.5 at% shows a high reversible capacity of 265 mAh g, a high rate-performance of up-to 10 A g and a long cycling stability of 2000 cycles. Moreover, a pseudo-capacitive dominated Zn intercalation/de-intercalation behavior is solidly determined by the electrochemical kinetics testing and structural characterizations. This TOBI method is referential for developing other multivalent ion battery cathodes with outstanding performances.

Passive radiative cooling technology without electric consumption is an emerging sustainability technology that plays a key role in advancing sustainable development. However, most radiative cooling materials are vulnerable to outdoor contamination and thermal/UV exposure, which leads to decreased performance. Herein, we report a hierarchically structured polyimide/zinc oxide (PINF/ZnO) composite membrane that integrates sunlight reflectance of 91.4% in the main thermal effect of the solar spectrum (0.78-1.1 μm), the mid-infrared emissivity of 90.0% (8-13 μm), UV shielding performance, thermal resistance, and ideal hydrophobicity. The comprehensive performance enables the composite membrane to yield a temperature drop of ∼9.3 °C, compared to the air temperature, under the peak solar irradiance of ∼800 W m. In addition, the temperature drop of as-obtained composite membranes after heating at 200 °C for 6 h in a nitrogen/air atmosphere can be well maintained at ∼9.0 °C, demonstrating their ideal radiative cooling effect in a high-temperature environment. Additionally, the PINF/ZnO composite membrane shows excellent chemical durability after exposure to the outdoor environment. This work provides a new strategy to integrate chemical durability and thermal resistance with radiative cooling, presenting great potential for passive radiative cooling materials toward practical applications in harsh environments.

Highly Stable Polyimide Composite Nanofiber Membranes with Spectrally Selective for Passive Daytime Radiative Cooling.

NiPSe exhibits considerable potential as an electrode material for ion batteries due to its low spin-polarization effect, large interlayer spacing, and high intrinsic conductivity, although its ion storage capabilities have not been previously investigated. In this study, two-dimensional NiPSe synthesized via chemical vapor transport is demonstrated to possess exceptional rate capability and ultralong cycling stability, delivering reversible capacities of 277.3 mA h g after 5000 cycles at 20 A g and 249.3 mA h g after 10,000 cycles at 15 A g, along with a high initial Coulombic efficiency of 93.64 % at 1 A g. The fundamental mechanisms underlying the superior performance of NiPSe is elucidated through comprehensive in situ/ex situ characterization and theoretical calculations. The rapid charge transfer kinetics can be attributed to the metallic conductivity, elevated p-band center energy of Se, and preferential Na adsorption at interlayer NiNi sites, while reversible structural evolution is enabled by weak NiSe bonding and low spin-polarization effects. These systematic studies yield significant fundamental understanding regarding the rational design of metal thiophosphate-based materials for next-generation energy storage systems.

Highly active and reversible NiPSe anode for sodium-ion batteries: enabling ultrafast sodium storage with exceptional cycling stability.

Formic acid (FA) has attracted significant interest as a renewable liquid-phase hydrogen carrier. Hydrogen generation from FA decomposition is essential for the development of hydrogen economy. Designing highly efficient catalysts with different coordination environments for FA dehydrogenation is crucial for fuel-cell applications. Here, FA dehydrogenation from the perspectives of coordination structure design, activity evaluation, and mechanisms is focused. In particular, the structural design of active sites and dominant factors that determine the catalytic activity/selectivity and reaction mechanism are highlighted. Strategies to design catalysts are proposed based on the aspects of electronic effects, component regulation and synergistic effects, interface effects, and reaction active site design to boost the catalytic activity, selectivity, stability, rate-determining step activity, and overall performance. Simultaneously, it is important to investigate the structure-activity relationship during hydrogen generation. In addition, the experimental protocol (hydrogen generation from FA or FA-SF, SF: sodium formate), calculation of reaction parameters, and determination of products during hydrogen generation are summarized. Finally, challenges, conclusions, and developments based on FA decomposition are presented. Here, guidance for the precise design of high-efficiency catalysts is provided to enhance catalytic performance toward FA decomposition and satisfy the requirements for hydrogen generation in the future.
