Buyers can inspect records of the car’s service history. It includes information about aspects such as oil change and battery replacement.
Buyers can ask for repair shop receipts. These receipts often include the odometer reading at the time of repair. By comparing these readings with the current odometer reading, a buyer can verify that the odometer has not been tampered with.
Companies like Autocheck and Carfax also provide information to buyers. These services allow buyers to input a car’s Vehicle Information Number on their websites. Buyers can get the ownership history of the vehicle, and maintenance records are sometimes included.
