Most people want a good job. A good job provides sufficient pay, allowing individuals to support themselves and their families by affording necessities such as food, housing, and healthcare. It also helps them achieve a good standard of living.
Many households have some savings set aside for emergencies. When workers in such households become unemployed, their families may use these savings, depleting their financial reserves.
The problem becomes more severe for low-income households. Such households often have no savings because they spend their entire income on immediate necessities. When unemployment occurs in such families, they may face severe financial hardship and struggle to meet basic needs. When many people can't find work, as in these families, unemployment becomes a broader problem, which also affects the entire country.
If these workers had jobs, they would contribute to producing more products. This lost production means the country's overall output, often measured by Gross Domestic Product, is lower than its potential.
