Government employment services play an important role in helping individuals find employment.
For example,CareerOneStop is the U.S. Department of Labor's free career‑information website.
It allows job seekers to search for current job openings. Users can browse hundreds of occupations with data on wages and education. CareerOneStop’s Resume Builder is a free, interactive tool that helps users create and format professional resumes
Government agencies also organize job fairs. During these events, job seekers can learn about available positions and may also get an opportunity for an interview.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal law in the United States. It helps job seekers access training, education, and employment services and connects employers with skilled workers. It also funds job training and career services via state and local workforce boards.
American Job Centers, established under the Workforce Investment Act. While established under federal law (WIA, now WIOA), these centers are operated as a partnership between federal, state, and local governments. These centers provide access to in-person employment services and support job seekers with career counseling and job search guidance.
Job Corps is a free, federally funded education and job training program in the United States for young people ages 16 to 24. Most participants live on campus at Job Corps centers.
These are a few government employment services that help reduce unemployment.
