细胞通常具有三种主要的细胞间连接方式——紧密连接、锚定连接和间隙连接，每种连接都有其独特的结构和功能。

以柱状上皮为例。这些细胞顶端附近的紧密连接将相邻的细胞膜连接在一起，起到阻止分子通过细胞间隙流动的屏障作用。

在该顶端部分下方有两种类型的锚定连接——黏着连接和桥粒。

这些锚定连接共同在细胞间形成相互关联的细胞骨架网络，有助于抵抗机械力。

第三种类型是间隙连接，它们分散在质膜上，尤其靠近基底端。这些连接在相邻细胞之间起到通讯通道的作用，允许分子和离子通过。
