Navigational Effort

Navigational effort is the physical and cognitive work required to move through an environment and reach a goal, making it an important concept in the study of behavior. It depends on factors such as travel distance, obstacles, route complexity, uncertainty, and the mental demands of planning and monitoring movement. Researchers examine navigational effort to understand how animals and humans choose routes, allocate attention, balance costs against rewards, and adapt decisions when environmental conditions change. Measuring these costs can clarify movement strategies, habitat use, spatial learning, and the design of environments that support efficient and accessible navigation.

Credit terms and collection efforts are pivotal in a business' financial health and operational efficiency. Credit terms define the conditions under which a company extends credit to its customers, including payment deadlines, interest rates, and discounts for early payments. These terms significantly impact cash flow, sales volume, and customer relationships. Offering favorable credit terms can attract customers and boost sales, but overly lenient terms may lead to delayed payments and...

Children who have complex communication needs can benefit from the use of a speech-generating device (SGD). Cognitive skills were identified as having an impact on the ability to navigate between levels of SGDs. This protocol describes the steps needed for Speech-language Pathologists to assess cognitive skills and navigational abilities.

MazeSuite is a complete toolset to prepare, present and analyze navigational and spatial experiments. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIR) is an optical brain imaging technique that enables noninvasive and portable monitoring of cerebral blood oxygenation changes. This paper summarizes collective use of MazeSuite and fNIR within a cognitive processing learning paradigm.
