Rice Bean Mixture

A rice bean mixture is a combined preparation of rice and beans that brings together two biologically distinct plant foods in one system. During preparation, water and heat soften rice starch and bean tissues, while cooking alters texture, digestibility, and the availability of nutrients; together, the ingredients provide complementary sources of carbohydrates, plant protein, and dietary fiber. In biology and nutrition research, this mixture serves as a model for studying food composition, digestion, nutrient interactions, and microbial fermentation. It also supports investigations of affordable, plant-based diets and how processing conditions influence nutritional quality and biological outcomes.

The pH of a solution containing an acid can be determined using its acid dissociation constant and its initial concentration. If a solution contains two different acids, then its pH can be determined using one of several methods depending upon the relative strength of the acids and their dissociation constants. A Mixture of a Strong Acid and a Weak Acid In a mixture of a strong acid and a weak acid, the strong acid dissociates completely and becomes a source of almost all the hydronium ions...

Establishment of Rice Plant Leaf Infection through Fungal Inoculation via Wounding

2025

This video demonstrates the establishment of rice plant leaf infection through wounding inoculation with Magnaporthe grisea mycelium. The fungal spore-derived germ tube penetrates the epidermal layer, resulting in tissue infection and lesions on the leaves. This method aids pathotype screening and improves plant resistance understanding for molecular breeding.

A Spray Inoculation Technique to Establish Fungal Infection in Rice Plant Leaves

This video demonstrates a technique to establish the pathogenic fungus Magnaporthe grisea infection in rice plant leaves. The fungal conidia suspension is sprayed on sections of rice leaf, and the disease progression is assessed by scoring the formation of necrotic lesions.

Root-Mediated Endophytic Colonization of Beneficial Bacteria in Rice

Begin with rice seedlings pre-germinated under dark, aseptic conditions to ensure uniform sprouting.Transfer these seedlings to a flask containing a nutrient-rich, semi-solid medium pre-inoculated with a test bacterium. As the plant grows, the roots release chemotactic compounds into the surrounding medium. These compounds stimulate bacterial proliferation, leading to adhesion, multiplication, and colony formation on the root surface. As the roots develop, the bacteria enter the plant through...

An Assay for Detecting Reactive Oxygen Species Production in Rice Tissues upon Immune Elicitation

2025

This video demonstrates an assay for real-time detection of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in rice tissues upon pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) elicitation. Cut sheath segments and leaf discs are exposed to a bacterial flagella-derived peptide functioning as a PAMP. Upon recognition of the peptide via pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) on plant cells, a rapid and transient production of ROS occurs, which is detected via a chemiluminescence assay.
