Pcr Tube Collection

A PCR tube collection is a set of small, heat-resistant laboratory tubes used to prepare and process samples for polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Each tube holds a reaction mixture containing template DNA, primers, nucleotides, polymerase, and buffer while a thermal cycler repeatedly performs denaturation, primer annealing, and extension to amplify selected sequences. In cancer research, PCR tubes support the analysis of mutations, gene expression targets, and molecular biomarkers from tissue or other biological samples. Consistent tube design and organized handling help researchers manage multiple reactions and generate reproducible data for studies of tumor biology, disease classification, and treatment response.

Chip-in-a-Tube-Based Digital PCR for Quantification of Single Nucleotide Variants

2025

This video demonstrates the utility of digital PCR in a chip-in-a-tube format for the detection of single nucleotide variations in DNA samples. A single PCR reaction is partitioned into chambers that act as independent PCR reactions, and the detection of fluorescence signals from the amplified targets in the chambers is used to compute the frequency of the variant allele in the sample.

Milk Collection in the Rat Using Capillary Tubes and Estimation of Milk Fat Content by Creamatocrit

Milk is a primary source of nutrition for the neonate. Analysis of milk components may provide insight into maternal factors that affect offspring health. This protocol describes a manual method of collecting milk samples from the lactating rat, which can then be used for further downstream analysis.

Source: Rachel Liu, BAO, MBBCh, Emergency Medicine, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut, USA Tube thoracostomy (chest tube placement) is a procedure during which a hollow tube is inserted into the thoracic cavity for drainage of fluid or air. Emergency chest tube insertion is performed for definitive treatment of tension pneumothorax, traumatic hemothorax, large-volume pleural effusions, and empyemas. Irrespective of the cause of air and fluid accumulation in the pleural space, the...

PCR: The Polymerase Chain Reaction

2023

The polymerase chain reaction, or PCR, is a technique used to amplify DNA through thermocycling – cyles of temperature changes at fixed time intervals. Using a thermostable DNA polymerase, PCR can create numerous copies of DNA from DNA building blocks called dNTPs. There are three steps in PCR: denaturation, annealing, and elongation. Denaturation is the first step in the cycle and causes the DNA to melt by disrupting hydrogen bonds between the bases resulting in single-stranded DNA. Annealing...
