Calorimeter Measurement

Calorimeter measurement is a method for determining heat transfer during a physical or chemical process, making it central to quantitative studies of energy changes in chemistry. A calorimeter tracks the temperature change of a substance with known heat capacity under controlled conditions, allowing transferred heat to be calculated and related to specific heat or reaction enthalpy. Common designs include solution calorimeters for reactions in aqueous systems and bomb calorimeters for combustion, where a sealed vessel operates at constant volume. These measurements help characterize chemical reactions, compare material properties, evaluate fuels, and connect observable temperature changes with thermodynamic principles.
