Electro-optic Modulators

Electro-optic modulators are devices that control the intensity, phase, polarization, or frequency of light by applying an electrical signal, enabling conversion between electronic and optical information. In a typical integrated device, an electric field changes the refractive index of an electro-optic material, altering the phase of guided light; interference in structures such as Mach-Zehnder modulators can convert that phase shift into intensity modulation. These components support high-speed data transmission in fiber-optic networks, optical signal processing, laser control, and photonic integrated circuits. Their performance depends on material response, electrode design, optical confinement, and bandwidth, making them important for compact, energy-efficient communication and sensing systems.

EEG is a non-invasive technique that can measure brain activity. The neural activity generates electrical signals that are recorded by EEG electrodes placed on the scalp. When an individual is engaged in performing a cognitive task, brain activity changes and these changes can be recorded on the EEG graph. Therefore, it is a powerful tool for cognitive scientist aiming to better understand the neural correlates associated with different aspects of cognition, which will ultimately help them...

2024

Electromechanical systems are intricate configurations that effectively combine electrical and mechanical elements to achieve a desired outcome. Central to many of these systems is the DC motor, a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical motion, enabling various applications ranging from simple fans to complex robotic mechanisms. A key component of the DC motor is the armature, a rotating circuit positioned within a magnetic field. As an electric current passes through the...
