Spatial Regions

Spatial regions are defined portions of space or a geometric domain, distinguished by their boundaries, positions, or shared properties. In mathematics, they are represented using coordinates, equations, inequalities, or set notation, allowing points to be classified as inside, outside, or on a boundary; intersections and unions can then describe more complex areas. Spatial regions support the analysis of shapes, distances, volumes, and relationships in geometry, calculus, and coordinate systems. They also provide a foundation for modeling physical spaces, partitioning domains for integration, and visualizing solutions to equations and constraints.

Spatial Cueing

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Attention refers to the limited human ability to select some information for processing at the expense of other stimuli in the environment. Attention operates in all sensory modalities: vision, hearing, touch, even taste and smell. It is most often studied in the visual domain though. A common way to study visual attention is with a spatial cueing paradigm. This paradigm allows researchers to measure the consequences of focusing...

We present a technique that allows the spatial separation of different conformers or clusters present in a molecular beam. An electrostatic deflector is used to separate species by their mass-to-dipole moment ratio, leading to the production of gas-phase ensembles of a single conformer or cluster stoichiometry.

Spatial Memory Testing Using Mazes

2023

Spatial learning and memory are neurological functions that allow us to remember important details associated with our environment. Scientists test this phenomenon in rodents using different types of mazes like Morris water maze, Radial water maze, and Barnes maze. By investigating spatial memory in rodents, neurobehavioral scientists can gain valuable understanding of how these processes are altered following brain damage in humans. Here, the neurobiology behind spatial memory is briefly...
