Straight Line

A straight line is a one-dimensional geometric figure extending indefinitely in two opposite directions, with constant direction and no curvature. It provides a fundamental model for describing direct relationships between quantities in mathematics and science. A straight line can be represented in the Cartesian plane by an equation such as y = mx + b, where m is the slope, or rate of change, and b is the y-intercept; two points determine a unique line, and parallel lines share the same slope. Its properties support graphing linear functions, analyzing proportional relationships, finding intersections, and modeling constant rates in geometry, physics, economics, and engineering.

Generation of Straight or Branched Actin Filaments

2023

The straight or branched structure formation of actin filaments is controlled by nucleating proteins such as the formins and Arp2/3 complex. Formin-mediated assembly results in straight filaments, whereas Arp2/3 protein complex-mediated assembly results in branched actin filaments. Arp2/3 Complex Arp2/3 complex is a seven-subunit complex consisting of two proteins similar to actin- Arp2 and Arp3, and five other subunits that help keep Arp2 and Arp3 inactive. When required, the complex is...

Magnetic Field Due To A Thin Straight Wire

2026

Consider an infinitely long straight wire carrying a current I. The magnetic field at point P at a distance a from the origin can be calculated using the Biot-Savart law. Consider a current element dx at a distance x from the origin. The current element makes an angle θ with the line joining dx and P. Using the Pythagorus theorum to express the distance between the current element and the point, the magnetic field due to the current element at point P can be estimated using Equation 1. The...

Magnetic Field Due to Two Straight Wires

Consider two parallel straight wires carrying a current of 10 A and 20 A in the same direction and separated by a distance of 20 cm. Calculate the magnetic field at a point "P2", midway between the wires. Also, evaluate the magnetic field when the direction of the current is reversed in the second wire. The current flowing in the wires and the separation distance between the wires are the known quantities. The magnetic field at a point 10 cm from each wire must be evaluated. The magnetic field...

Calculating Depreciation: Straight-line Method

2024

Depreciation is an accounting method for allocating the cost of a tangible asset over its useful life. It reflects the gradual decrease in the asset's value as it is used in business operations. The Straight-Line Method of depreciation assumes an asset loses value evenly over its useful life until it reaches its residual or scrap value. This method is commonly applied to long-term assets such as buildings and vehicles. The asset's initial cost, estimated useful life, and expected scrap value...

Here, we present several simple methods for evaluating viability and death in 3D cancer cell spheroids, which mimic the physico-chemical gradients of in vivo tumors much better than the 2D culture. The spheroid model, therefore, allows evaluation of the cancer drug efficacy with improved translation to in vivo conditions.
