Pancreatic Tumor Model

A pancreatic tumor model is an experimental system that reproduces important features of pancreatic cancer for studying disease biology and evaluating treatments. Models may use tumor cells, patient-derived organoids, or implanted tumors, with controlled culture conditions or living hosts that help preserve interactions with the extracellular matrix, stromal cells, and immune components. Researchers use these systems to examine tumor growth, invasion, drug sensitivity, and mechanisms of treatment resistance. By linking molecular findings to observable tumor behavior, pancreatic tumor models support preclinical medicine, improve understanding of this aggressive disease, and help guide the development of more effective and individualized therapies.

2023

The video explains a stepwise surgical method for orthotopic implantation of a tumor fragment from a cancerous donor to the pancreas of a non-cancerous recipient mice for development of pancreatic cancer. Orthotopically implanted PDAC could recapture the tissue microenvironment of human pancreatic cancers than conventional subcutaneous (SC) models more accurately.

Multianimal Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Tumor Measurements in Pancreatic Cancer Mouse Models

2026

This protocol uses a multichamber bed for parallel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of up to four animals to detect pancreatic adenocarcinoma tumors in genetically engineered mouse models. This multianimal MRI protocol is fast and cost-effective for detecting and measuring tumors, facilitating animal selection for preclinical studies and longitudinal monitoring of tumor growth.

Improved understanding of pancreatic cancer biology is critically needed to enable the development of better therapeutic options to treat pancreatic cancer. To address this need, we demonstrate an orthotopic model of pancreatic cancer that permits non-invasive monitoring of cancer progression using in vivo bioluminescence imaging.

Irreversible Electroporation: A Technique for Ablating Pancreatic Tumor in Mouse
