Effective systems must balance the benefits of improved accountability against possible effects on trust, morale, effort, and workplace autonomy. Analyzing these trade-offs helps explain employment contracts, incentive design, productivity measurement, and employer decisions about investing in supervision or adopting less intrusive performance-based arrangements.
