Copper Coil Applicator

A Copper Coil Applicator is an electromagnetic device that delivers controlled magnetic fields to neural tissue, making it useful for noninvasive brain stimulation and experimental neuroscience. When a time-varying electrical current passes through the copper coil, it generates a changing magnetic field that penetrates biological tissue and induces electrical currents in nearby neurons, altering their membrane activity. Researchers use copper coil applicators in transcranial magnetic stimulation to investigate neural circuits, map brain function, and study changes in cortical excitability. Their design, positioning, and stimulation parameters influence the strength and distribution of the induced field, supporting both basic research and potential therapeutic development.
