Determining the Solubility Rules of Ionic Compounds

1. allgemeine Methoden

Trends in den Löslichkeitseigenschaften ionischer Verbindungen können für die qualitative Analyse ionischer Lösungen genutzt werden. Wenn eine Verbindung zu einem Gemisch aus ionischen Lösungen hinzugefügt wird, können sich viele Produkte bilden, jedes mit unterschiedlichen Löslichkeitseigenschaften. Wenn nur ein Produkt unlöslich ist, verlässt es allein die Lösung. Durch sequentielle Reaktionen können Ionen in einer Lösung systematisch identifiziert und isoliert werden. Es gibt zwar eine Vielzahl von Analyseinstrumenten für die Elementaranalyse, aber die Techniken sind oft zeitaufwändig oder erfordern den Transport von Proben zwischen Laboratorien. Qualitative Analysetechniken wie die Untersuchung von Löslichkeitseigenschaften sind schnelle, zugängliche Vorab-Screening-Methoden für die Analyse. In diesem Video werden die Löslichkeitseigenschaften ionischer Verbindungen vorgestellt, Verfahren zur selektiven Ausfällung ionischer Verbindungen demonstriert und einige Anwendungen der qualitativen Analyse anhand von Löslichkeitstrends in industriellen Umgebungen vorgestellt. Ionische Verbindungen setzen sich aus einem Kation und einem Anion zusammen. Wenn eine Reaktion zwischen zwei verschiedenen ionischen Verbindungen stattfindet, wird das Kation einer Verbindung elektrostatisch vom Anion einer anderen angezogen, wodurch eine neue Verbindung entsteht. Die Ionen, die nicht an der Reaktion teilnehmen, werden als Zuschauerionen bezeichnet und werden in der Netto-Ionenreaktion ausgelassen. Wenn sich eine ionische Verbindung auflöst, interagieren sie reversibel mit Lösungsmittelmolekülen, und die Ionen dissoziieren. Wenn die Wechselwirkung zwischen einem Ion und dem neuen Gegenion stärker ist als zwischen dem Ion und den Lösungsmittelmolekülen, ist es für das Produkt günstiger, wenn es sich in der festen Phase befindet. Die Bildung eines festen Produkts aus der Lösung wird als Ausfällung bezeichnet, und der Feststoff wird als Niederschlag bezeichnet. Ionen können selektiv aus der Lösung isoliert werden, indem Reaktionen mit unlöslichen Ausfällungen induziert werden. Um diese Reaktionen zu entwerfen, werden Kationen und Anionen auf der Grundlage von Löslichkeitstrends in grobe Kategorien eingeteilt. Kationen werden gruppiert, indem das Anion identifiziert wird, das ihren unlöslichen Reaktionsprodukten gemeinsam ist, und Anionen werden ebenfalls nach gemeinsamen Kationen gruppiert. Lösungen dieser gemeinsamen Ionen werden verwendet, um auf diese Gruppen zu testen. Wenn eine Trennung von Ionen, die zur gleichen Gruppe gehören, gewünscht wird, können spezielle Reagenzien oder konzentrierte Lösungen verwendet werden, um selektive Reaktionen zu induzieren, sobald die Ionen in dieser Gruppe isoliert wurden. Diese spezialisierten Reagenzien können auch verwendet werden, um die Identität eines isolierten Ions zu bestätigen. Nachdem Sie nun die Prinzipien hinter der qualitativen Analyse von Ionen verstanden haben, gehen wir eine Technik zur Analyse einer Lösung für Phosphat durch, gefolgt von einem Verfahren zur Trennung einer Mischung von Metallkationen. Um eine Lösung für Phosphat zu analysieren, bereiten Sie zunächst verdünnte Testlösungen aus wässrigem Calcium, Ammoniumorthomolybdat und konzentrierter Salpetersäure vor. Geben Sie dann 5 ml der unbekannten Lösung in ein Reagenzglas. Geben Sie die Kalziumlösung tropfenweise in die unbekannte Lösung. Die Bildung eines weißen Niederschlags könnte auf das Vorhandensein von Calciumphosphat oder Calciumcarbonat hinweisen. Um das Vorhandensein von Phosphat zu überprüfen, geben Sie langsam Salpetersäure in das Reagenzglas. Die Auflösung des Niederschlags deutet darauf hin, dass sich Hydrogenphosphat gebildet hat. Das Fehlen von Gasblasen deutet darauf hin, dass kein Karbonat vorhanden ist, da Karbonat mit der Säure zu Kohlendioxid und Wasser reagiert hätte. Zum Schluss gibst du langsam das Ammoniumorthomolybdat in das Reagenzglas. Ammoniumphosphomolybdat bildet sich als gelber Niederschlag, der das Vorhandensein von Phosphat in der Lösung bestätigt. Bereiten Sie zunächst verdünnte Testlösungen vor, wie im Textprotokoll aufgeführt. Besorgen Sie sich vier Reagenzgläser und Kappen, die für die Verwendung in einer Zentrifuge geeignet sind. Fahren Sie mit der Zugabe von Chloridlösung fort, bis sich keine Niederschläge mehr bilden. Die Flüssigkeit oder der Überstand und das feste Silberchlorid werden durch Zentrifugation getrennt. Dekantieren Sie den Überstand in das zweite Reagenzglas. Waschen Sie das Silberchlorid dreimal mit Wasser und dekantieren Sie es bei jeder Wäsche in das zweite Reagenzglas. Geben Sie dann die Natronlauge tropfenweise in das zweite Reagenzglas. Es bilden sich drei Ausfällungen: weißes Zinkhydroxid, gelbes Eisenhydroxid und grünes Nickelhydroxid. Fügen Sie weiterhin Natriumhydroxid hinzu, bis sich die feste weiße Zinkverbindung aufgelöst und das lösliche Zinkion gebildet hat. Trennen Sie die Zinklösung und die festen Nickel- und Eisenverbindungen durch Zentrifugation und füllen Sie die Lösung dann in das dritte Reagenzglas um. Waschen Sie die Feststoffe dreimal mit Wasser und füllen Sie sie jeweils in die Zinklösung um. Geben Sie langsam Salzsäure in die Zinklösung im dritten Reagenzglas, bis Zinkhydroxid ausfällt und sich dann auflöst. Geben Sie dann Kaliumhexacyanoferrat tropfenweise zur Zinklösung, um Kalium-Zinkhexacyanoferrat als weißen Niederschlag zu bilden. Geben Sie nun in das Reagenzglas, das festes Nickelhydroxid und Eisenhydroxid enthält, langsam Ammoniak, um das lösliche blaue Nickelhexammin-Ion zu bilden. Die Nickellösung durch Zentrifugation vom festen Eisenhydroxid trennen und die Nickellösung in das vierte Reagenzglas umfüllen. Waschen Sie das Eisenhydroxid dreimal mit Wasser und dekantieren Sie die Waschmittel in die Nickellösung. Fügen Sie dann langsam Dimethylglyoxim zur Nickellösung hinzu, um Nickeldimethylglyoxim als roten Niederschlag zu bilden. Zu dem festen Eisenhydroxid wird vorsichtig konzentrierte Salzsäure hinzugefügt, um eine Lösung aus Eisenchlorid zu bilden. Um das Vorhandensein von Eisen zu bestätigen, fügen Sie Thiocyanat hinzu, um das tiefrote Thiocyanatoeisenkation zu bilden. Die Einfachheit und Geschwindigkeit der qualitativen Analyse von Ionen in Lösung macht diese Technik in der Umweltchemie und -industrie weit verbreitet. Wenn Wasser eine hohe Konzentration an Metallkationen wie Kalzium oder Magnesium enthält, wird es als hartes Wasser bezeichnet. Diese Metallkationen können mit Anionen im Wasser, wie z. B. Karbonat, reagieren und kalkhaltige Ablagerungen bilden, die Rohre oder Warmwasserbereiter verstopfen. Die Wasserhärte kann durch Zugabe einer Karbonatlösung zu einer Wasserprobe beurteilt werden. Weißer Niederschlag weist auf einen hohen Kalziumgehalt hin. Phosphat ist ein wichtiger Nährstoff für viele Lebensformen und wird daher sowohl in Industrie- als auch in Gartendüngern verwendet, aber ein Überschuss an Phosphat kann schädlich sein, insbesondere in Süßwasserumgebungen. Abwässer in Wohn- und Gewerbegebieten können durch Zugabe von Salpetersäure und Ammoniumorthomolybdat auf Phosphate untersucht werden. Gelber Niederschlag weist auf einen hohen Gehalt an Phosphaten hin. Sie haben gerade die Einführung von JoVE in die Löslichkeitsregeln für Ionen gesehen. Qualitative analysis can be used to identify the ions in an ionic compound and to infer solubility from the products that form. It is a branch of analytical chemistry that uses chemical properties and reactions to determine whether a cation or an anion is present. The same known solubility rules that guide these tests can also be learned by observing the reaction products.

This approach is not usually used in modern industrial chemistry labs, but it is practical in the field because it does not require sophisticated instruments. It also helps students practice ionic reactions and net ionic reactions. Results are organized in a flow chart so observations can be compared and used to reach clear conclusions.

Many cations have similar chemical properties, and many anions do as well. For that reason, the ions must be separated and analyzed carefully. Successful identification also depends on understanding acid-base behavior, ionic equilibria, redox reactions, and pH properties.

Qualitative tests exist for almost every elemental ion and polyatomic ion. The process usually starts by deciding which class of ions is being analyzed, such as cations or anions, elemental or polyatomic ions, and groups or periods. In this experiment, both cations and anions are identified, and the cations include polyatomic ions as well.
