In eukaryotischen Zellen ist der größte Teil des Zellzyklus die Interphase, die in die drei Stadien G1, S und G2 unterteilt ist.
 In G1, der ersten Lückenphase, wächst eine neu erzeugte Tochterzelle an Größe und bereitet sich auf die DNA-Duplikation in der nächsten Phase vor.
In S, der Synthesephase, duplizieren die Zellen nun ihre Kern-DNA, die als Chromatin verpackt bleibt. Zellen duplizieren auch die Zentrosomen, die Mikrotubuli-Organisationsstruktur, die den mitotischen Spindelapparat bildet.
In G2, der zweiten Lückenphase, wachsen die Zellen schließlich weiter, vermehren Organellen und Proteine, die für die Mitose benötigt werden, und füllen ihre Energiespeicher wieder auf. Die Zelle ist nun bereit, in das erste Stadium der Mitose einzutreten.

Der Zellzyklus dauert etwa 24 Stunden (in einer typischen menschlichen Zelle) und besteht aus zwei verschiedenen Phasen: der Interphase, die drei Phasen des Zellzyklus (G1, S und G2) umfasst, und der Mitose (M). Während der Interphase, die etwa 95 Prozent der Dauer des eukaryontischen Zellzyklus einnimmt, wachsen Zellen und replizieren ihre DNA in Vorbereitung auf die Mitose.

Phasen der Interphase

Nach jeder Periode der Mitose und Zytokinese treten eukaryotische Zellen in die Interphase ein, in der sie wachsen und ihre DNA replizieren, um sich auf die nächste mitotische Teilung vorzubereiten.

Während der G1-Phase (Lücke 1) wachsen Zellen kontinuierlich und bereiten sich auf die DNA-Replikation vor. In dieser Phase sind Zellen stoffwechselaktiv und kopieren lebenswichtige Organellen und biochemische Moleküle wie Proteine.

In der anschließenden S-Phase (Synthese) der Interphase duplizieren Zellen ihre Kern-DNA, die in halbkondensiertem Chromatin verpackt bleibt. Während der S-Phase duplizieren Zellen auch das Zentrosom, eine Mikrotubuli-organisierende Struktur, die den mitotischen Spindelapparat bildet. Die mitotische Spindel trennt Chromosomen während der Mitose.

In der G2-Phase (Lücke 2), die auf die DNA-Synthese folgt, wachsen die Zellen weiter und synthetisieren Proteine und Organellen, um sich auf die Mitose vorzubereiten.

In menschlichen Zellen dauert die G1-Phase etwa 11 Stunden, die S-Phase etwa 8 Stunden und die G2-Phase etwa 4 Stunden. Während G1 sind die Zellen diploid (2n, ein Paar jedes Chromosoms). Nach der Replikation in der S-Phase erhöhen die Zellen ihren DNA-Gehalt auf 4n. Die Zellen bleiben bis zur Zytokinese 4n, dann wird ihr DNA-Gehalt auf 2n reduziert.

Der Zellzyklus erfolgt über etwa 24 Stunden (in einer typischen menschlichen Zelle) und in zwei verschiedenen Phasen: Interphase, die drei Phasen des Zellzyklus umfasst.

Interphase is the part of the cell cycle when a cell grows and prepares to divide. It is a major stage of the cell cycle, and it comes before cell division begins.
