Comparing Experimental Results: Student's t-Test

Der Einfluss einer Änderung der Methode, der Probe oder des Analytikers auf die Analyseergebnisse wird untersucht, indem nur eines von zwei Experimenten geändert wird.
Der t-Test vergleicht die statistische Signifikanz eines Mittelwerts mit dem Mittelwert eines anderen Mittelwerts oder mit einem bekannten Wert.
In einem t-Test handelt es sich bei nicht gekoppelten Daten um zwei unabhängige Datensätze aus derselben Quelle. Gepaarte Daten sind zwei Sätze verwandter Daten, z. B. zwei Sätze aus zwei verschiedenen Methoden für eine Reihe von Stichproben.
Die Teststatistik wird aus dem ausgewählten Konfidenzintervall für einen bekannten Wert abgeleitet. Im Vergleich zum tabellarischen statistischen Wert des Tests für einen gegebenen Freiheitsgrad auf einem gewählten Signifikanzniveau wird die Nullhypothese akzeptiert, wenn der erste Wert innerhalb des Bereichs des letzteren liegt.
Ein einseitiger Test sucht NUR nach einer Zunahme oder NUR nach einer Abnahme, während ein zweiseitiger Test nach einer Veränderung in eine der beiden Richtungen sucht.

Der t-Test ist eine statistische Methode, mit der der Stichprobenmittelwert mit einem Populationsmittelwert oder zwei Mittelwerte aus zwei Datensätzen verglichen werden. Der Unterschied entsteht durch Fehler in der Methode, der Stichprobe, den Analytikern selbst oder durch echte phänomenologische Unterschiede. In der Statistik können t-Tests sowohl für ungepaarte als auch für gepaarte Daten durchgeführt werden. Bei ungepaarten Daten handelt es sich um zwei Sätze wiederholter Messungen aus derselben Quelle. Gepaarte Daten beziehen sich auf Daten, die an denselben Proben oder Probanden mit zwei unterschiedlichen Methoden oder zu zwei unterschiedlichen Zeitpunkten zum Vergleich erhoben wurden. Wenn im t-Test nur eine Seite einer Normalverteilungskurve verwendet wird, handelt es sich um einen einseitigen Test. Wenn beide Seiten der Verteilung im t-Test verwendet werden, ist der Test zweiseitig.

Student's t-test is a statistical tool for checking whether two means are different in a meaningful way. It can compare a sample mean with a population mean, or it can compare the means from two data sets. The test uses the mean, standard deviation, and number of measurements, along with a chosen confidence interval.

The test statistic is then compared with a table of critical values at that confidence level. If the test statistic is smaller than the critical value, the null hypothesis is accepted. That means the difference between the means is not statistically significant and is likely due to random, indeterminate errors.

If the test statistic is higher than the critical value, the null hypothesis is rejected. In that case, the difference is statistically significant and cannot be explained by random errors alone. The cause may come from the method, the sampling, the analyst, or a real difference in the phenomenon being studied.

Student's t-tests can be used with unpaired or paired data. Unpaired data are two sets of replicate measurements from the same source. Paired data are measurements taken on the same samples or subjects with two methods, or at two different time points, for comparison. The test can also be one-tailed, when only one side of the normal distribution curve is used, or two-tailed, when both sides are used.
